Bill Belichick and Jordon Hudson have reportedly ended their relationship, closing the book on a romance that drew constant attention well beyond Chapel Hill.
TMZ Sports reported that sources close to Hudson confirmed the split, saying the North Carolina Tar Heels football coach and his 25-year-old girlfriend quietly broke up late last year. Even so, the two are said to still be on good terms. According to the report, they remain close friends and plan to keep their business ties intact.
What makes the breakup notable is how little it seemed to change in public. Belichick, 74, and Hudson continued appearing together throughout this year, including when Hudson was on the sideline for UNC’s home game against Syracuse just last week. She has been less visible around the program this season than she was a year ago, but she still showed up for several games, including Notre Dame and East Tennessee State, and also accompanied Belichick to a high school football game in late September.
Belichick and Hudson first met on a flight in February 2021 and started dating in 2022. Their relationship didn’t become public until June 2024, when the age gap between them - 49 years - immediately made it one of the most talked-about stories in sports.
The relationship also spilled into controversy in April 2025, when Hudson interrupted Belichick during a CBS Sunday Morning interview about how they met. Belichick later came to her defense, saying the interview had been edited in a way that created a misleading impression.
The news lands in the middle of a difficult second season in Chapel Hill for Belichick. UNC general manager Michael Lombardi resigned in September amid an internal investigation, and Belichick’s son, Steve, later announced he was leaving his role as defensive coordinator while on medical leave.
The Tar Heels are 4-3 in Belichick’s second season after a 4-8 debut year.

Philip Rivers Could Change The Carolina Rivalry In A Way Fans Hate
Philip Rivers has surfaced in the kind of rumor that instantly grabs attention across the Triangle, because the former NC State quarterback is now being linked to the Wolfpacks opening after Dave Doerens firing. Rivers is currently coaching at a high school in Alabama, and he has already acknowledged the chatter while making clear there is nothing concrete yet, but even the possibility is enough to stir up old memories and fresh debate.
For North Carolina fans, the idea carries an extra edge because Rivers is not just a former Wolfpack star, he is one of the most recognizable figures ever tied to the rivalry. The discussion has also brought up his connections to former teammates and what a hire like this could mean for NC States direction, but for now it remains exactly that, a conversation without an official decision. UNC Still Has One Big Roster Concern Before No. 1 Miami
North Carolinas Friday night availability report brought a little clarity ahead of its matchup with No. 1 Miami, and a little more uncertainty too. Five Tar Heels are still ruled out, while four others are listed as questionable, leaving the staff to sort through a roster picture that is still very much in flux as kickoff approaches.
There was one bit of good news for the Tar Heels, with defensive lineman Zavion Griffin-Haynes now considered available. Miami will also be short-handed, with six players out for the game, but the biggest update for UNC may still be coming later, when the final availability report is released two hours before kickoff. UNC Went Toe To Toe With No. 1 Miami Until One Brutal Mistake
North Carolina went into Week 9 and gave No. 1 Miami everything it could handle, trading punches after the Hurricanes struck first and answering with a string of touchdown drives led by Billy Edwards Jr. The Tar Heels also got the kind of defensive stops that kept the game within reach, and for a while it looked like they had the top-ranked team on the ropes despite the noise around a few controversial penalties.
UNC even briefly grabbed the lead in the fourth quarter, turning a tense showdown into a real upset threat. Then came the play that changed everything: Edwards Jr. put the ball on the ground late, Miami recovered, and a night that had been full of belief and resistance suddenly tilted back toward the favorite.
