Armando Bacot has put the question out there, and UNC fans know exactly why it matters.
His younger brother, King Bacot, is already drawing attention as a Class of 2029 combo guard and has started stacking up college offers. The latest came from Virginia, and that was enough to get Armando talking.
On social media, the former Tar Heel star reacted to the news with a message aimed straight at North Carolina: “@UNC_Basketball what we doing ? https://t.co/D9O4xZIW4m”
That’s the part UNC fans have been waiting on. King Bacot has been on the radar for a while, and the family name carries real weight in Chapel Hill. Even during Armando Bacot’s time at UNC, Tar Heel fans became familiar with his younger brother, and plenty have been hoping the program would move quickly to keep the Bacot legacy going.
Virginia’s interest makes sense, too. King Bacot is an in-state product, and the Cavaliers also recruited Armando heavily before he eventually signed with Roy Williams and the Tar Heels.
The bigger issue now is timing. UNC has been focused on the 2027 class, with the 2028 group not far behind, but King Bacot’s rise makes it hard to ignore the 2029 talent already piling up around him. The longer North Carolina waits, the more room there is for another program to get in front.
There are still familiar ties between the Bacot family and UNC as well. Sean May, Pat Sullivan, Eric Hoots and others remain connected to the program after the head coaching change, which gives the Tar Heels a built-in path if they want to push this forward. Armando himself could help bridge that gap, too.
For now, the message is simple: UNC fans want an offer on the table, and they want it soon. King Bacot is already one of the names they’re watching closest, and if North Carolina wants a real shot at keeping the next Bacot in Chapel Hill, the next move probably needs to come from them.
