Jones’ clutch hit was wasted. A night that should have been a win turned into another painful entry on the September ledger.
The damage got worse elsewhere, too. Tampa Bay won, and that pushed the Yankees four games back in the AL East.
This is the part of the season where every missed chance carries extra weight. September games aren’t just placeholders. They count.
