Yankees Star Jazz Chisholm Jr. Aims for Historic 50/50 Season

Yankees' Jazz Chisholm Jr. sets sights on a historic 50/50 season, blending power and speed in a bold pursuit of MLB greatness.

Yankees second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. is aiming for the stars, and he's not shy about it. After an impressive season where he hit 31 home runs and swiped 31 bases over 130 games, Chisholm is setting his sights on joining an exclusive club-one that only Shohei Ohtani has entered. Ohtani's remarkable 2024 season saw him hit 54 homers and steal 59 bases, making him the sole member of the 50/50 club.

Chisholm confidently declared, “You’re looking at the second one,” when speaking to reporters. He believes he has all the tools needed: speed, power, plate discipline, and defensive prowess.

His ambition? To accumulate a 10-WAR season, a feat that requires staying healthy-something that eluded him last year due to various injuries, including knee contusions and an oblique strain.

The 40/40 club, with names like Jose Canseco, Barry Bonds, and Ronald Acuña Jr., remains a rare achievement in baseball, and Chisholm is eager to surpass it. However, Yankees manager Aaron Boone remains cautiously optimistic.

While Boone isn’t expecting a 50/50 season, he acknowledges Chisholm’s confidence and potential. “If he goes out there and does his thing, he’s going to put himself in a really good position come the end of the season,” Boone remarked.

Chisholm's journey will be one to watch, as he strives to turn his lofty goals into reality on the diamond.
