Here’s what to watch in the MLB today:
- Skenes Gears Up for the World Baseball Classic:
Paul Skenes, the reigning NL Cy Young Award winner, is set to make his first Spring Training start today at 1:05pm ET. He’ll face off against Braves right-hander Bryce Elder, who had a tough season last year with a 5.38 ERA over 28 starts.
Watching Skenes is always a treat, but this outing holds extra significance as it’s his only tune-up before joining Team USA for the World Baseball Classic next month. Skenes is expected to pitch in two games during the WBC, with an additional exhibition start against the Giants and Rockies, setting the stage for what promises to be an exciting tournament.
- Weathers Set for Yankees Debut:
The Yankees are bringing back much of their 2025 roster, including familiar faces like Trent Grisham, Cody Bellinger, Amed Rosario, and Paul Goldschmidt. Their standout new addition is lefty Ryan Weathers, acquired in a trade with the Marlins.
Weathers is scheduled to make his Yankees debut tonight at 6:35pm ET at Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, taking on the Nationals. He’ll be up against southpaw Andrew Alvarez, who impressed with a 2.31 ERA in his first five big league starts last year.
For Weathers, this Spring Training is crucial after being limited to just eight starts last season due to injuries.
- Offseason in Review Series Kicks Off:
