Michael Kay Defends Aaron Judge Amid Rising Criticism

Veteran broadcaster Michael Kay stands up for Aaron Judge, challenging the narrative of his so-called lack of clutch performance amid widespread criticism.

The heat is on for Aaron Judge, the New York Yankees' powerhouse who's undeniably one of baseball's all-time greats. Right now, he's at least the second-best player in the league, if not the best. Yet, critics are quick to label him as not clutch, and that doesn’t sit well with everyone.

Longtime Yankees broadcaster Michael Kay has stepped in to challenge this narrative, pointing out that the Team USA lineup in the championship game against Team Venezuela was far from stellar.

Kay didn't hold back, saying, “We can go up and down that All-Star-laden, Hall-of-Fame-to-be lineup and they all crapped the bed. Every single one of them except for Harper.”

His words, shared via YouTube, highlight that while the entire team struggled, Judge seems to be the one taking the brunt of the criticism. Kay argues that if you dive into the numbers, Judge had as good a World Baseball Classic as anyone on Team USA.

The truth is, Team USA's woes weren't on Judge alone. Despite a roster filled with stars, they just didn’t hit well throughout the tournament. Yet, when it comes to Judge, the expectations are always sky-high.
