Wolf Pack Hit A Pivotal Stretch With Momentum Suddenly In Question

As the Hartford Wolf Pack navigate a challenging road trip with mixed results, key players continue to hit career milestones and prepare for critical upcoming matches.

The Hartford Wolf Pack are deep into the second half of their season-long eight-game road trip, and the next stretch will keep them busy against a familiar set of North Division and I-91 rivals.

Hartford is 2-2-1-0 through five games on the trip, with three more stops coming before the journey wraps up Tuesday in Springfield.

The most recent result came Wednesday night in Hershey, where the Wolf Pack were held to a season-low 15 shots in a 4-1 loss to the Bears. Liam Greentree scored Hartford’s only goal, a six-on-five tally at 17:22 of the third period. Josh Dunne opened the scoring 5:35 into the game for Hershey, and Louie Belpedio’s power play goal 3:22 into the second period stood up as the game-winner.

Before that, Hartford split a pair of wins and a tough overtime loss in a busy week. On Thursday, Oct. 29, the Wolf Pack dropped a 5-4 overtime decision at Hamilton after surrendering four power play goals.

Hartford jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the first period on goals from Jaroslav Chmelař, Matthew Robertson and Brody Lamb, but the Hammers answered with three straight to take a 4-3 lead through 40 minutes. Marc Del Gaizo tied it 3:56 into the third on a five-on-three, only for Matthew Highmore to end it 58 seconds into overtime with Hamilton’s fourth power play goal of the night.

The next night in Belleville, the special teams battle swung the other way. Anton Blidh scored twice, including the opening goal 6:17 into the game on the power play, and Justin Dowling broke a 1-1 tie with the game-winner at 17:29 of the first period off a feed from Del Gaizo.

Carey Terrance added an empty-net goal at 19:18 of the third, and Blidh finished his two-goal night at 19:58. Callum Tung made 19 saves in the 4-1 win.

Hartford then picked up another two points Sunday in Springfield in the first installment of the 2026-27 ‘I-91 Rivalry.’ Glenn Gawdin and Chris Wagner traded first-period goals, Liam Greentree put the Wolf Pack ahead with a power play strike 12:01 into the second, and after Nathan Walker tied it for the Thunderbirds in the third, Gawdin answered 1:24 later with his second goal of the game. Juuso Pärssinen sealed the 4-2 win with an empty-netter at 18:43.

Now the schedule turns to Rochester on Friday night, with the Wolf Pack and Americans meeting for the first time this season at Blue Cross Arena. Rochester won both games last season, and Hartford managed just one of a possible four points in the season series.

The Amerks took a 4-3 overtime win in Hartford on Nov. 14, 2025, then beat the Wolf Pack 6-3 on home ice on Mar. 22, 2026.

The recent history in the matchup has been rough for Hartford. The Wolf Pack have lost seven straight to Rochester, going 0-5-2-0, and their last win over the Amerks came on Jan. 21, 2023, in Hartford, 4-1. The skid in Rochester is even longer: Hartford has dropped seven straight there, with its last Blue Cross Arena win coming on Dec. 22, 2018, a 5-1 result that completed a back-to-back sweep after a 4-2 win the night before.

Saturday brings a trip to Syracuse, where the Wolf Pack will play their only game of the season against the Crunch. Syracuse swept Hartford in two regulation wins last season, rolling 7-2 at home on Dec. 13, 2025, and winning 5-3 in Hartford on Dec.

19, 2025. Hartford’s last win over the Crunch came in a 2-1 overtime game on Nov. 6, 2024, when Alex Belzile scored the winner.

The Wolf Pack’s last victory in Syracuse was a 4-1 decision on Feb. 25, 2023, when Jonny Brodzinski scored twice, including the game-winning power play goal at 11:11 of the first period.

The road trip ends Tuesday morning back in Springfield for round two of the ‘I-91 Rivalry’ presented by Braman Pest. That matchup is set for 10:35 a.m. at the MassMutual Center and is the second of six meetings between the teams at that building.

The Thunderbirds will make their first visit of the season to Hartford on Saturday, Nov. 14.

There are a few notable numbers from the week as well. Del Gaizo picked up the 100th assist of his AHL career in the 4-2 win over Springfield on Nov.

  1. Dowling recorded his 300th career AHL assist in the overtime loss at Hamilton.

Blidh became the first Wolf Pack player this season to score multiple goals in a game with his two-goal night against Belleville, while Gawdin followed with his first multi-goal game with the club in Springfield. Greentree also logged his first career multi-point game with a goal and assist on Nov. 1, and after his six-on-five goal Wednesday, he now leads Hartford with six goals.

The rookie forward is tied for the league lead in rookie goals this season.

All three games next week will be available on AHLTV on FloHockey. Alex Thomas will call Friday’s game in Rochester and Saturday’s game in Syracuse, with “Wolf Pack Pregame” beginning at 6:50 p.m. before Friday’s 7:05 p.m. puck drop and coverage starting at 4:45 p.m. before Saturday’s 5:00 p.m. start.

Fans can also listen on Mixlr for both games. Ryan Smith will have the call for Tuesday’s game in Springfield on AHLTV on FloHockey.

Tickets for the Wolf Pack’s annual ‘Hockey Fights Cancer’ game on Nov. 14 at 7:15 p.m. are on sale now.

Wolf Pack's Offense Vanishes As Rangers Goalie Picture Gets Interesting

The Hartford Wolf Packs recent momentum hit a wall in Hershey, where a 4-1 loss to the Bears snapped a three-game point streak and left the offense searching for answers. Even so, there was a notable development in net for the Rangers organization, with Joonas Korpisalo on a conditioning loan to Hartford and getting a look as the goalie picture continues to take shape.

Hartford did manage one goal in the defeat, but it was not enough to keep pace in an Atlantic Division matchup that quickly tilted away from them. The Wolf Pack now head to Rochester to continue their road trip, and for the Rangers, the bigger takeaway may be less about the final score than the fact that Korpisalo is back in game action and part of the conversation again. Rangers May Need To Act Fast On Tye Kartye

Tye Kartye has given the Rangers exactly the kind of low-cost production teams spend all season trying to find, and his fit has only become more obvious as the games have piled up. Through 16 games, he has chipped in 4 goals and 7 assists while giving New York a useful, affordable option in a lineup that is always being measured against the salary cap.

The question now is whether the Rangers can keep that value from becoming a short-term benefit only. A player who arrives cheaply and produces immediately tends to force an early conversation about the next contract, especially when the front office has to balance roster flexibility with the chance to lock in a useful piece before his price climbs. Kucherov Just Turned Tampa Bays Biggest Contract Fight Into Something Bigger

Nikita Kucherovs situation in Tampa has shifted from a contract dispute into something much larger, and it now reads like one of the leagues most closely watched standoffs. The Lightning winger asked for a trade, pointing to poor communication and a lack of respect rather than making this strictly about money, even as he remains a pending unrestricted free agent with a massive next contract hanging over everything.

Tampas front office and coaching staff have said they do not intend to move him, and most around the league still expect him to stay through the season before testing the market in free agency. If it gets to that point, the ripple effect could be significant, with several teams already viewed as realistic landing spots and the Rangers among the clubs keeping a close eye on how this plays out.
