Wolf Pack Carry Needed Momentum Into A Rivalry Test Rangers Fans Know

The Wolf Pack's cohesive performance and strategic plays secured a decisive 4-1 victory over the Senators, setting the tone for their ongoing road trip.

The Hartford Wolf Pack got the response they were looking for on Friday night in Belleville.

A night after a crushing loss in Hamilton, Hartford stayed on the road and handled business with a 4-1 win over the Senators, leaning on a complete 60-minute effort and two late empty-net goals to put the game away.

The Wolf Pack kept the pressure on early and scored first for the fourth straight game. A double minor for high-sticking against Matthew Andonovski sent Hartford to its first power play, and the puck movement clicked quickly. Juuso Pärssinen snapped a cross-ice pass to Nathan Aspinall in the right circle, Aspinall sent it right back toward the crease, and Anton Blidh finished the play at the net front.

That goal was Blidh’s second of the season, while Pärssinen picked up a secondary assist to extend his point streak to three games.

Belleville answered four minutes later. Brody Lamb was sent off for delay of game after closing his hand on the puck, giving the Senators their first power play of the night. Hartford killed it off, but before Lamb could get back into the play, Kasper Halttunen beat Callum Tung to tie it at 1-1.

Hartford didn’t let the momentum swing stay long. Late in the first period, Gabriel Eliasson was penalized for tripping, and the Wolf Pack made the chance count. Glenn Gawdin worked the puck to Marc Del Gaizo near the top of the zone, Del Gaizo stepped in and slid the puck to Justin Dowling at the back door, and Dowling tapped it in for a 2-1 lead.

It was Dowling’s second goal of the season and extended his point streak to three games. Gawdin also kept rolling, stretching his own point streak to five games; he’s put up seven points - one goal and six assists - during that span. Hartford took that one-goal edge into the first intermission.

The second period belonged to the goaltenders. Jackson Parsons shut down all 10 shots he faced for Belleville, while Tung stopped five at the other end to keep the Wolf Pack in front.

Belleville turned up the heat in the third, but Tung kept answering. He made the kinds of stops that kept Hartford from getting dragged into a scramble.

Late in regulation, with Belleville pulling Parsons for the extra attacker, Hartford sealed it. The puck got cleared to center ice, where Pärssinen found Carey Terrance with open space. Terrance skated toward the empty net and was hooked before he could shoot, which led to the empty-net goal being awarded to him with 41 seconds left.

Blidh added another empty-netter in the final seconds to close out the 4-1 finish.

The win gave Hartford three points out of a possible four on its two-game swing through Ontario. The Wolf Pack are back in Hartford tonight, and the road trip rolls on Sunday with the first I-91 Rivalry meeting of the season against the Springfield Thunderbirds. Puck drop is set for 3:05 pm.

J.T. Miller's Halloween Moment Says A Lot About These Rangers

The Rangers got a lighter moment at just the right time when J.T. Miller showed up at the teams annual Halloween party dressed as Tinker Bell, a reminder that even in a tense season, there is still room for a little levity. The event brought players and their families together, giving the group a chance to step away from the rink and spend time in a setting that looked more like a neighborhood gathering than a hockey operation.

For a club trying to steady itself during a challenging stretch, that kind of scene can matter. The Rangers have been using the break in the schedule to reset before returning to game action, and moments like this can help keep the room loose while the pressure builds again. Millers costume might have been the headline grabber, but the bigger takeaway is the sense that this group is still looking for ways to stay connected while it works through an uneven start. Former Rangers Flop Is Suddenly Raising An Uncomfortable Question In Toronto

Jack Roslovic was a deadline addition for the Rangers last season, but his time in New York never really caught fire. He had a modest impact after arriving ahead of the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline and was eventually pushed down to the fourth line during the playoffs, a reminder that the fit never quite matched the hope attached to the move.

Now in Toronto on a two-year deal, Roslovic has flipped the script in a way that has to make the Rangers look twice. He has settled in on the Maple Leafs' top line and has produced enough offense to sit near the top of the team leaderboard, with coach Jim Hiller pointing to his chemistry with Auston Matthews as the reason the change has taken hold. Rangers Fans Will Notice One Frustrating Thing About Sullivans New Lines

Mike Sullivan spent practice tinkering with the Rangers forward groups, and the most notable wrinkle was a new look at the top of the lineup. Pavel Dorofeyev skated with Mika Zibanejad and Alexis Lafreniere, giving the club a different combination to evaluate as it continues sorting out chemistry and balance up front.

The defensive side, meanwhile, stayed exactly where it was, with Vlad Gavrikov and Adam Fox together, Marcus Pettersson with Sean Durzi, and Alberts Smits alongside Braden Schneider. Eeli Tolvanen was absent for personal reasons, but the bigger takeaway for Rangers fans is the shuffle among the forwards, especially the move that pushed Gabe Perreault down the lineup and left another familiar piece in place elsewhere.
