Rangers Make Another Forward Shuffle With One Roster Spot In Focus

In a strategic move, the New York Rangers switch up their roster by bringing Jaroslav Chmelar back from the AHL, while sending Taylor Raddysh to bolster the Hartford Wolf Pack.

The New York Rangers have made another roster swap, bringing back forward Jaroslav Chmelar from the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack and sending Taylor Raddysh back down.

Chmelar is getting another look after spending the first half of October with New York. The 23-year-old, who was a fifth-round pick, is coming off his rookie season and has yet to record his first NHL point in the 2026-27 campaign.

He opened the year with seven scoreless games, though he did chip in with more than two hits per game. In his earlier NHL action, Chmelar put up four goals and six points in 28 games with a -2 rating while averaging 9:09 of ice time.

The 6’5″, 238-lb winger also logged 53 hits and finished with a 90.8% on-ice SV% at even strength.

In Hartford, though, he’s produced more. Chmelar has two goals and four points in seven games for the Wolf Pack, along with a +3 rating.

Raddysh, meanwhile, is heading back to Hartford for the second time this season. He was placed on waivers and removed from the opening-night roster a few days before the Rangers began the season, giving him his first AHL stint since 2020-21. The veteran had already played in 373 NHL games before the 2026-27 season, and he made the most of his time with the Wolf Pack, scoring three goals and five points in five games.

Since being recalled by New York on October 16th, Raddysh has one assist in six games and a +1 rating while averaging 7:34 of ice time. Last season, his first with the Rangers, he finished with nine goals and 19 points in 68 games.

Because he has already appeared in six games, Raddysh is close to waiver eligibility again. If he gets another NHL opportunity this season, he can play four more games or spend at least 13 days on New York’s roster before needing waivers once more.

Adam Edstrm Is Making The Rangers Regret This One

Adam Edstrms move out of New York looked like a fairly routine depth shuffle at the time, the kind of transaction that barely registers once the roster churn settles. But after the Rangers sent him to Nashville, the big forward quickly found a more defined role with the Predators and has started to show the blend of size and finishing ability that made him an intriguing piece in the first place.

In Nashville, Edstrm has been getting more ice time and the results have followed, with five goals and an assist in 14 games along with strong underlying numbers. It has only sharpened the contrast with how he was viewed in New York, where former head coach Mike Sullivan publicly questioned his consistency while Edstrm was working back from injuries, leaving the Rangers with a familiar what-if as his game starts to click elsewhere. Rangers Face An Early Season Test They Can't Afford To Fail

The Rangers are trying to steady themselves after a rough stretch that has left them searching for traction early in the season. Recent play has put them in a difficult spot in the Metropolitan Division and the Eastern Conference, and the next few days offer a chance to start changing the conversation before the schedule gets tougher again.

Home games against the Blues and Flyers now loom as an important reset before the club heads out on its first major road trip of the season. With Pavel Dorofeyev and Dylan Garand drawing attention for their recent performances, the Rangers have at least a few individual bright spots to lean on, but the bigger question is whether those can translate into the kind of team results they need right away. Rangers New Remix Jersey Is Already Sparking A Fan Debate

The NHL and Fanatics are rolling out their Hometown Remix jerseys for all 32 teams in the 2026-27 season, and the Rangers version has already given fans plenty to talk about. The design leans into a navy base with stair-step red NEW YORK lettering and a scaled-down Lady Liberty logo over the heart, a look that nods to the franchises identity while still pushing into something a little different from the standard home and road sets.

Around the teams orbit, the reaction has been immediate, with several staff writers at Forever Blueshirts weighing in on what the new sweater gets right and where it might divide the fan base. For a franchise that has long treated its look as part of its brand, even a concept jersey can stir up strong opinions, and this one seems likely to keep drawing them as the rollout gets closer.
