Rangers Recall Brennan Othmann from AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack
The New York Rangers are tapping into their pipeline once again, recalling forward Brennan Othmann from the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack. The 22-year-old winger has been a steady contributor in Hartford this season, notching seven points (1 goal, 6 assists) in 15 games. He also made a brief appearance with the big club earlier this year, suiting up on October 26 against the Calgary Flames.
This isn’t Othmann’s first taste of NHL action. He’s logged 26 career games with the Rangers, and while his minutes have been limited, his development has been closely watched by the organization since he was taken 16th overall in the first round of the 2021 NHL Draft.
Othmann’s AHL resume continues to build. In 109 games over three seasons with the Wolf Pack, he’s tallied 76 points (34 goals, 42 assists), showing flashes of the offensive upside that made him a first-round pick. His ability to create plays, combined with a gritty edge to his game, has made him one of the more intriguing prospects in the Rangers’ system.
For New York, the decision to bring Othmann back into the fold could signal a few things. Whether it’s to inject some energy into the bottom six, cover for an injury, or simply give a young player another look, the Rangers are clearly keeping their development pipeline active. And for Othmann, it’s another opportunity to prove he belongs on the NHL stage.
He’s got the tools - now it’s about translating them at the highest level.
