Marlies Stun Wolf Pack with Six Goals in Toronto Showdown

Despite a promising start, the Hartford Wolf Pack couldn't keep up with the Toronto Marlies, who surged ahead to secure a decisive 6-3 victory.

The Hartford Wolf Pack kicked off their Saturday afternoon with promise in Toronto, but the Marlies had other plans, ultimately taking the game 6-3 at Coca-Cola Coliseum.

The Wolf Pack set the tone early, with Bryce McConnell-Barker launching a shot that was initially stopped by Artur Akhtyamov. Despite Akhtyamov's efforts, Carey Terrance's rebound attempt was deflected back to McConnell-Barker. He quickly found Scott Morrow, who nailed a shot over Akhtyamov's shoulder at 4:39, putting the Wolf Pack up 1-0.

The Marlies didn't take long to respond. Just 16 seconds into their first power play at 12:13, a broken skate blade didn't stop Spencer Martin from making a dramatic save. However, Logan Shaw capitalized on a loose puck, netting his 21st goal of the season to tie it up.

The second period saw the Marlies seize control. William Villeneuve's shot clipped the post but set up Shaw for his second goal, making it 2-1. Moments later, Luke Haymes powered through to extend the lead to 3-1 with his 16th of the season.

The Wolf Pack fought back, narrowing the gap to 3-2 when McConnell-Barker's shot deflected off Brody Lamb, who celebrated his first professional goal.

Despite the Wolf Pack's relentless pressure, the Marlies struck twice more before the second intermission. Ben King pounced on a rebound for his first Marlies goal, and Ryan Tverberg followed up with another rebound goal, pushing the lead to 5-2.

In the final frame, Landon Sim netted his first AHL goal, putting the Marlies comfortably ahead at 6-2. Terrance capped off his impressive night with a tip-in at 18:57, marking his first career three-point game and bringing the final score to 6-3.

The Wolf Pack's road journey wraps up against the Rochester Americans. They'll return home to face the Charlotte Checkers at the newly renovated PeoplesBank Arena. Fans can catch all the action on AHLTV and FloHockey.
