In a move that could bolster their defensive lineup, the Hartford Wolf Pack have recalled defenseman Chris Ortiz from the ECHL’s Bloomington Bison. This decision, announced by New York Rangers Associate General Manager and Hartford Wolf Pack General Manager Ryan Martin, brings Ortiz back into the fold with the AHL squad.

Ortiz, at 25, has been making waves with his dual presence on the ice. This season, he’s contributed one assist in 14 games for the Wolf Pack, while also showcasing his skills in 20 games with the Bison, where he racked up 12 points through two goals and ten assists. His ability to transition smoothly between leagues is a testament to his adaptability and skill set.

Looking back at the 2024-25 season, Ortiz achieved a personal best with the ECHL’s Wheeling Nailers, amassing 39 points in 45 games, including 34 assists. His stint with the AHL’s Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins also added to his growing resume.

Ortiz's journey took another turn when he signed a professional tryout agreement with the Providence Bruins in February 2025. During his time there, he played 23 games and recorded seven assists, further solidifying his reputation as a reliable playmaker.

Standing at 6 feet and weighing 185 pounds, Ortiz has accumulated 61 career AHL games, contributing 13 points across his stints with the Wolf Pack, Bruins, and Penguins. His consistent performance underscores his potential impact on the Wolf Pack as they continue their 2025-26 campaign.
