Brody Lamb Shines with First Pro Points for Rangers in AHL Triumph

Brody Lamb, the New York Rangers' promising new prospect, makes a strong AHL debut with back-to-back assists for the Hartford Wolf Pack.

Brody Lamb is making waves early in his professional hockey career. The New York Rangers' recent signee wasted no time getting on the score sheet with the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack, contributing assists in back-to-back 5-2 victories over the Charlotte Checkers.

Lamb's first professional point was a memorable one. On Tuesday, he unleashed a shot from the left-wing wall that was initially stopped by Charlotte's goaltender, Cooper Black. However, the rebound fell perfectly for Carey Terrance, who backhanded it into the net late in the third period, effectively sealing the win.

The very next night, Lamb was at it again. He picked up a secondary assist on Bryce McConnell-Barker’s goal just 1:41 into the game, showcasing his ability to be a consistent playmaker.

The 22-year-old center, who just wrapped up his collegiate career with Minnesota, signed a two-year entry-level contract with the Rangers. Although that contract kicks in next season, Lamb joined Hartford on an Amateur Tryout (ATO) to finish the current season strong.

Lamb's time with the Golden Gophers was impressive. Serving as team captain, he notched 14 goals and 16 assists, totaling 30 points in 35 games.

His leadership and skill helped him finish second in goals and points on the team. His collegiate career was highlighted by a career-best 17 goals during his junior year and a trip to the NCAA National Championship Game as a freshman.

Over his time at Minnesota, Lamb accumulated 91 points, including 17 power-play goals and eight game-winners. Standing at 6-foot-1 and weighing 185 pounds, he's got the frame but will need to add some muscle to thrive at the professional level.

Improving his skating and consistency will be crucial for Lamb, according to Jess Rubenstein from The Prospect Park. Lamb's ability to score from anywhere on the ice, combined with his potent shot selection, makes him a promising prospect. However, addressing those areas will be key to his NHL aspirations.

Drafted in the fourth round of the 2021 NHL Draft by the Rangers, Lamb is now a compelling option at center for the organization. He follows in the footsteps of Noah Laba, who made a successful transition to the Rangers after a stint in Hartford. The Rangers are hopeful that Lamb can replicate Laba's journey and become a staple in their lineup.
