Alexis Lafreniere Stuns with Hat Trick as Rangers Dominate Flames 4-0

Alexis Lafreniere's hat trick propels the Rangers' resurgence as they dominate the Flames, with notable milestones and standout performances highlighting the victory.

Alexis Lafreniere dazzled on the ice with his second career hat trick, leading the New York Rangers to a commanding 4-0 victory over the Calgary Flames. Jonathan Quick was a wall in net, stopping 21 shots and securing his second shutout of the season, marking the 65th of his illustrious career. This performance nudged him past Henrik Lundqvist for 17th on the all-time shutout list, putting him just one behind the legendary Patrick Roy.

Conor Sheary found the back of the net for his second goal of the season, while Mika Zibanejad and Gabe Perreault each chipped in with two assists. Zibanejad's contribution was particularly noteworthy as it brought him to the impressive milestone of 800 career points. Meanwhile, Adam Fox's assist propelled him to 400 career points, making him only the fourth defenseman in Rangers history to achieve this feat.

Lafreniere has been on a tear lately, tallying eight goals and five assists in his last nine outings. His recent form is a bright spot for the Rangers, who are currently at the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings.

However, they seem to be finding some rhythm, coming off a 6-2 win against Philadelphia where Zibanejad netted two goals. Tuesday's win marked the first time they've strung together consecutive victories since December.

On the other side, the Flames are struggling, having dropped six of their last seven games. Goalie Dustin Wolf did his best with 25 saves, but it wasn't enough to stem the tide.

The Rangers were without right wing Taylor Raddysh, who missed his second consecutive game due to the passing of his father.

Looking ahead, the Flames will face the New Jersey Devils on Thursday, while the Rangers are set to visit the Winnipeg Jets.
