Injuries have certainly thrown a wrench into what could have been a standout season for Adam Fox of the New York Rangers. The talented defenseman was sidelined with a mysterious lower-body injury against the Utah Mammoth on January 5, which forced him onto the long-term injured reserve after just three games back on the ice.
During Fox's absence, the Rangers felt the impact, struggling to find their rhythm with an 8-16-3 record over his two stints away. But Fox's return has sparked a resurgence, and he's starting to look like his old self again. Currently riding a five-game point streak with six points, Fox's individual brilliance is once again lifting the Rangers.
Since coming off LTIR after the Olympic break, the Rangers have posted a 6-2-2 record, including their first four-game winning streak since October 2024. Head coach Mike Sullivan has been vocal about Fox's impressive comeback, noting how quickly he's regained his form.
Sullivan praised Fox's ability to drive the offense, highlighting his exceptional vision and puck-moving skills. "Foxy drives offense.
He has great vision, he can move the puck, he transitions the puck, he helps us get out of our end, he's active on the offensive blue line, he's very good on the power play. Those are his strengths," Sullivan stated.
Fox's stats this season speak volumes about his impact on the ice. In 40 games, he's tallied five goals and 30 assists, contributing to a total of 35 points while logging an average of 23:40 minutes per game. His presence is vital for the Rangers, and as he continues to build momentum, the team’s prospects are looking brighter.
