Bo Bichette is making waves in New York, and he's not shy about his ambitions. The Mets' new third baseman, who signed a hefty three-year, $126-million deal in January, is setting his sights high.
"I am capable of being one of the best players in the game," Bichette confidently stated. "I think I am already.
But I think I can be seen as that more often."
Since 2021, Bichette has posted a solid 17.7 fWAR, placing him 37th among all position players-a testament to his consistency and skill. At 28, his career already boasts impressive achievements: two American League hit titles, a couple of All-Star appearances, and a trip to the World Series. Now, with the Mets, he's ready to elevate his game even further.
Reflecting on his journey, Bichette shared, "My whole life, I always dreamed of playing on the biggest stages. I didn't necessarily envision New York as a child, but I thought of the World Series and moments like that."
The allure of New York's baseball stage is undeniable. "When you get in the big leagues and see the level, the standard that the city holds both teams to, it's exciting for me," he added.
"I hold myself to the same standards. Those attitudes line up."
With Bichette's drive and the bright lights of New York, the Mets might just have a star ready to shine even brighter.
