Jalin Hyatt’s time with the New York Giants looks close to the end, but that doesn’t have to be the final chapter of his NFL story.
The former third-round pick has struggled to carve out a real role in the Giants offense despite his speed, and he’s now staring at a steep training camp climb just to hang onto a roster spot. If New York moves on, other teams could still have interest - especially clubs that have already taken hits at receiver this offseason.
Two obvious landing spots stand out: the San Francisco 49ers and the Carolina Panthers. San Francisco lost Ricky Pearsall to a season-ending PCL injury, but their receiver depth could make it tough for Hyatt to find a clear path. Carolina, though, may offer a cleaner opening after rookie Chris Brazzell II went down with an LCL tear.

Carolina already has an established top duo, but Brazzell II was positioned to grab that third receiver job as a vertical threat. That’s where Hyatt comes in. If the Panthers are hunting for a Brazzell II replacement, Hyatt fits the bill in a very specific way.
This is as close to helmet scouting as it gets. Hyatt and Brazzell II are both speedy outside receivers with raw route trees who played at Tennessee. But the vacancy in Carolina lines up neatly with Hyatt’s best trait: stretching the field.
That has been Hyatt’s lane since he entered the league. He has played almost exclusively outside the numbers for the Giants, with 87.6% of his snaps coming out wide. His average depth of target sits at 20 yards, and as a rookie, his ADOT led all qualifying receivers in the NFL by nearly three yards.
There aren’t many players in the league who are tied to such a narrow role. If the Panthers want a replacement for Brazzell II, Hyatt could be one of the most natural options available.
