Tyreek Hills Post-Jets Injury Outlook Just Took Another Turn

Tyreek Hill's intensive rehab following a severe knee injury leaves his 2026 NFL season prospects hanging in the balance, as he strives to regain strength and prove his readiness to potential teams.

Tyreek Hill’s road back to the NFL is still unfinished, even if the latest video he posted makes the finish line look a little closer.

The 32-year-old receiver shared a rehab update on Wednesday night that showed him working through leg exercises and walking in a pool, a sign that his left leg is moving forward after the dislocated knee and multiple torn ligaments he suffered on Sept. 29. Hill said it has now been about 10 months since the injury and that he has already gone through two surgeries.

“When they told me I would not be able to walk in, and the doctor was like, 'bro, we don't know what's going to happen with your future;' now look at me," Hill told fans. "So it's about 10 months after doing two surgeries.

I have no power in my left leg at all, so I'm trying to regain all the power back in my left leg. But it's one day at a time.

“I ain’t going to tell you what my timeline is, but timeline looking real good right now, man,” Hill said.

That’s encouraging, but it doesn’t answer the biggest question hanging over his future: whether he’ll play in the 2026 NFL season. For now, the answer is still up in the air.

Hill’s recovery has been measured in months, not weeks. The source says the wideout is still building strength in the muscles in his left leg, and while he has stayed positive throughout the process, he is not ready to return yet. Recovery from a dislocated kneecap can vary depending on the severity of the injury, and the timeline cited for an NFL player like Hill is most likely around 9-12 months.

The injury itself was as ugly as they come. During Miami’s Week 4 27-21 win over the Jets last season, defensive back Malachi Moore grabbed Hill’s right leg as he caught the ball near the sideline.

As Hill tried to steady himself on his left leg, the knee appeared to hyperextend. His upper body twisted 180 degrees backwards while his lower half stayed planted, and he went down with a visibly injured leg.

Hill stayed on the field after the play, and the aftermath was severe enough to send him into a long rehab process that has now included two surgeries. After the 2025-26 season ended, Miami released the eight-time Pro Bowler, leaving him a free agent for the first time in his 10-year NFL career.

So what has to happen before Hill can suit up again? Two things.

He has to finish his rehab and prove that his left leg is fully healed. Then a team would have to sign him as a free agent.

Until both of those boxes are checked, Hill’s return remains a possibility - not a certainty.

Jets Suddenly Linked To Another Young Quarterback Behind Geno Smith

The Jets quarterback picture already has a clear headline for 2026, with Geno Smith in line to start and a backup battle forming behind him. Cade Klubnik, Brady Cook and Bailey Zappe are all in the mix, but the room could still be worth watching if New York decides it wants another young arm in the pipeline rather than simply riding with the current group.

That is where Bleacher Reports Kristopher Knox has nudged J.J. McCarthy into the conversation. The Vikings quarterback has appeared in 10 games and has yet to lock down the job in Minnesota, which leaves his long-term path open to interpretation if he does not seize the starting role there. For the Jets, it is the kind of speculative quarterback wrinkle that can linger around a roster even when the present plan already seems set. [Read more 🡒]

Chiefs Just Sent A Brutal Message About Ex Jets QB Justin Fields

The Chiefs quarterback situation has taken another turn, and it is one the Jets will notice because Justin Fields is still part of the conversation. Kansas City brought in the former Jets passer as a possible answer behind Patrick Mahomes, but the latest update around camp keeps the focus squarely on the star already in place and on how the Chiefs plan to handle the position as the season approaches.

Fields remains the intriguing name because of what he offers and what has held him back, with questions about tempo, accuracy and avoiding sacks following him from stop to stop. For now, though, the bigger issue in Kansas City is not whether Fields can fit, but whether the path he was supposed to open has already been narrowed before he gets a real chance to prove otherwise. Jets Linked To Another Quarterback Twist Fans Didn't See Coming

Dillon Gabriels spot in Cleveland has become one of those quarterback situations teams around the league keep watching, and the Jets are now being mentioned as a possible suitor. Gabriel is currently projected as the Browns third-string quarterback behind Deshaun Watson and Shedeur Sanders, which makes his long-term path in Cleveland murky enough to invite questions about whether another club could try to get involved.

The appeal is easy to see on paper, even if the fit in New York is far from straightforward. Gabriel played in 10 games with six starts last season and completed 59.5 percent of his passes with a 7-2 touchdown-to-interception ratio, but his overall efficiency lagged behind league average. The Jets also just used a draft pick on Cade Klubnik to develop at the position, and with multiple future first-round picks in hand, they are not exactly short on options if they decide to keep building the room their own way.
