Titans Star Jeffery Simmons Returns Home to Find House Burglarized During Team’s West Coast Trip
While Jeffery Simmons was doing what he does best on the field-delivering a dominant performance against the 49ers in California-someone was breaking into his Tennessee home. The All-Pro defensive tackle returned from the Titans’ road game early Monday morning to find his house had been burglarized, according to Nashville police.
The break-in reportedly occurred shortly after 7 p.m. local time on Sunday, just as Simmons was suiting up and playing a major role in Tennessee’s battle out west. The 28-year-old didn’t just show up-he showed out, logging seven tackles, a sack, and even catching a touchdown pass in a rare offensive cameo.
But the high of that performance quickly gave way to a much more sobering reality when Simmons got back home.
The Titans confirmed in a statement that team security is working closely with the Metro Nashville Police Department to recover the stolen items. Fortunately, no one was home at the time of the break-in. Simmons later took to Instagram, posting surveillance footage of the intruders entering his residence and sharing his relief that none of his family members were inside during the incident.
“What if one of my family members was in my house??” Simmons wrote. “All that materialistic s--- you can have but this is crazy!”
It’s not the first time a high-profile NFL player has been targeted during a road game. Earlier this year, Shedeur Sanders had his home burglarized while traveling with the Browns. And last season, names like Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and Joe Burrow were among those whose homes were hit under similar circumstances.
Simmons is now in his seventh season with the Titans, having been selected in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft. He’s been a cornerstone of the Tennessee defense ever since, racking up multiple All-Pro honors and continuing to be one of the most disruptive interior linemen in the league. This season, despite the Titans’ struggles at 2-12, Simmons has remained a force-totaling 32 tackles and nine sacks so far.
The break-in adds an off-field challenge to what’s already been a tough season for Tennessee. But if Simmons’ reaction is any indication, he’s focused less on the material loss and more on what could have happened-and thankfully didn’t.
