NFL Star Victim Of Horrifying Home Burglary

As break-ins targeting professional athletes continue to rise, Titans standout Jeffery Simmons becomes the latest victim-this time, during one of his most dominant performances of the season.

Titans Star Jeffery Simmons Returns From Game to Find Home Burglarized

While Jeffery Simmons was putting together one of the most impressive performances of his season on the field Sunday night, trouble was unfolding back home in Tennessee.

The All-Pro defensive tackle, fresh off a dominant showing against the 49ers in California-where he tallied seven tackles, a sack, and even found the end zone as a receiver-returned early Monday morning to discover his home had been broken into. According to Nashville police, the burglary occurred shortly after 7 p.m. local time, just as Simmons and the Titans were kicking off on the West Coast.

Fortunately, no one was home at the time of the break-in. The Titans confirmed that team security is working closely with the Metro Nashville Police Department to recover the items stolen from Simmons’ residence.

Simmons addressed the incident on social media Monday morning, posting surveillance footage of the suspects entering his home to his Instagram story. But more than frustration over stolen possessions, Simmons expressed relief that his loved ones weren’t caught in the middle of it.

“What if one of my family members was in my house?? All that materialistic s--- you can have but this is crazy!”

he wrote, highlighting a fear that’s become all too familiar for professional athletes.

Unfortunately, Simmons is far from alone in this experience. He’s the latest in a growing list of NFL players whose homes have been targeted while they’re away for games.

Earlier this year, Shedeur Sanders had his house burglarized while traveling with the Browns. And last season, stars like Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and Joe Burrow were among those impacted by similar crimes.

Now in his seventh season with the Titans, Simmons has been a cornerstone of Tennessee’s defense since being selected in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft. His production this year-32 tackles and nine sacks-has been a bright spot in an otherwise tough season for the 2-12 Titans. And Sunday’s performance against San Francisco only reinforced why Simmons remains one of the most disruptive interior defenders in the league.

But as this incident reminds us, even the most dominant players on the field are still vulnerable off of it. For Simmons, the focus now shifts from game prep to personal security, as he works with authorities to track down those responsible and ensure his home-and his family-are safe moving forward.
