Aaron Rodgers' brother, Jordan, didn't hold back in expressing his support for former Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson. Projected as the second-best quarterback in this year’s draft, Simpson is seen as a first-round talent, and Jordan Rodgers is clearly a fan.
The New York Jets, a team on the hunt for a long-term quarterback solution, have two first-round picks this year. Simpson has been frequently linked to them.
On ESPN’s “Get Up,” Jordan Rodgers called Simpson an “elite quarterback” and broke down some of his standout plays, highlighting his impressive skills. He even took to Twitter, emphasizing that the Jets would be “crazy” to pass on Simpson twice in the first round, declaring, “Someone is gonna get their future franchise QB.
Kid is a baller.”
Last season, the Jets brought in Justin Fields on a two-year deal, hoping he’d be the answer. Unfortunately, his performance didn’t meet expectations.
After just nine games, Fields was benched in favor of Tyrod Taylor, having thrown for only 1,259 yards and seven touchdowns. Owner Woody Johnson didn’t shy away from pointing fingers, blaming Fields for the team’s 3-14 record.
Fields has since been traded to the Kansas City Chiefs, and the Jets have added Geno Smith to their quarterback lineup for the upcoming season.
Alongside Smith, the Jets have Bailey Zappe and Brady Cook as options, but none have reached the legendary heights of Joe Namath, who led the Jets to their only Super Bowl victory in 1969.
Ty Simpson himself had the chance to meet with the Jets at last month’s Scouting Combine. He expressed excitement about the possibility of joining the team, sharing positive impressions of Coach Aaron Glenn and GM Darren Mougey.
Simpson remarked, “It was great, just talking ball, getting to know each other. Coach Reich is a great human being.
Coach Glenn is super energetic. If I have an opportunity to play in New York, they are going to get the best Ty Simpson they can get.”
The 2026 NFL Draft is set to take place from April 23 to 25 in Pittsburgh, and all eyes will be on where Ty Simpson lands.
