The New York Jets have added a fresh look for 2026, unveiling a white helmet and matching jersey that will make their debut in the team’s “White Out” home opener against the Green Bay Packers on Sept. 20.
The reveal gives New York another piece in its helmet collection, but the bigger question is whether the new threads can help change the feel around a team that had a brutal 2025. The Jets became the first team in NFL history not to record a defensive interception and lose five straight games by 23 or more points in a single season.
Year 2 of the Aaron Glenn era brings a full slate that includes the Tennessee Titans, Packers, Detroit Lions, Chicago Bears, Cleveland Browns, New England Patriots, Miami Dolphins, Las Vegas Raiders, Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, Los Angeles Chargers, Denver Broncos, Arizona Cardinals and Minnesota Vikings.
Even with the schedule looking tough and the playoffs appearing unlikely again, the Jets are expected to be in a better place than they were a year ago. A strong draft and an active offseason have given Glenn’s team a different look, and that alone should keep New York from being the league’s punching bag again.
The draft haul included David Bailey, Kenyon Sadiq, Omar Cooper Jr., D'Angelo Ponds, Darrell Jackson Jr., Cade Klubnik, Anez Cooper and VJ Payne.
Before that, the Jets made several notable moves, bringing in Geno Smith from the Raiders, Minkah Fitzpatrick from the Dolphins and T'Vondre Sweat from the Titans. They also signed Demario Davis and Tim Patrick in free agency.
Smith is set to open the season with 22,168 passing yards, 124 passing touchdowns and 89 career interceptions. He also owns a 42-56-0 starting record and threw 17 interceptions last season.
That’s why the outlook around him remains cautious. The Jets could even be better off with another rough year in 2026 if it leads to a premium pick in the 2027 draft and a shot at Arch Manning or Dante Moore.
