Jets Suddenly Have A Marvin Harrison Jr. Decision To Make

Could the New York Jets swoop in and secure a game-changing trade for Marvin Harrison Jr., outmaneuvering the Arizona Cardinals at the eleventh hour?

The New York Jets might have found themselves back in the Marvin Harrison Jr. conversation at exactly the right moment.

Arizona is working on a trade involving the young receiver, and the latest reporting suggests the final destination may not be locked in just yet. ESPN’s Adam Schefter said the Cardinals are wrapping up a deal and told Harrison he would sit out Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions while the sides sort through the details. But that doesn’t necessarily mean the finish line is set.

Jordan Schultz reported that the teams involved want to keep the eventual landing spot quiet until after they play this weekend. And former Super Bowl-winning coach Ryan Paganetti added another wrinkle, suggesting Arizona may already have a deal in place but could wait until Sunday or Monday morning to make it official.

That delay, in Paganetti’s view, could open the door for another team to step in with a better offer. Schefter reposted that theory on X and called it “A plausible theory.”

That’s where the Jets come in.

If the Cardinals leave even a small window open, New York could try to crash the party. The problem is obvious: the asking price is steep.

NFL insider Tom Pelissero reported that Arizona wants a second-round pick and more for the former No. 4 overall pick. At the same time, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported on September 30 that teams were still interested in Harrison, but there was skepticism about whether he would actually bring back a premium selection.

One team even projected that the Cardinals might be willing to settle for a quality Day 3 pick.

For the Jets, the motivation is easy to see. Their receiver room has been battered by injuries, leaving Garrett Wilson, Jamaal Pritchett, Malik McClain, and Isaiah Williams as the healthy options on the 53-man roster. Adonai Mitchell is dealing with a finger injury, Omar Cooper Jr. has an ankle sprain, Tim Patrick has a groin injury, and Arian Smith is facing a long recovery after tearing his ACL.

Harrison would give them another young target and a possible partner for Wilson. There’s also the Ohio State connection between the two, which only adds another layer to the fit.

The challenge is that Harrison’s NFL production has not matched the buzz yet. He has 108 catches for 1,578 yards and 13 touchdowns on 202 targets in his career. Still, a player with that kind of talent and ceiling can always draw interest, especially if a team thinks a fresh start is the answer.

So the Jets are there, lurking. Whether they can actually get in the game depends on one thing: what Arizona wants back.

Jets Mock Draft Signals A Risky QB Plan And Defensive Reset

A fresh 2027 mock draft has already started to sketch out a possible reset for the Jets, and it begins with the most important position on the field. In Sports Illustrated, Justin Melo projected New York to take a quarterback with the seventh overall pick, a sign that the conversation around the roster is already drifting toward what comes next rather than just patching the present.

The bigger picture in the mock is just as telling, because the Jets are also tied to added first-round picks from trades and more help on both sides of the ball. Melos projection sends that extra draft capital toward the defensive front and the secondary, which says plenty about how the roster is being viewed right now: a team still looking for a long-term answer under center while also needing to restock key defensive spots. Jets Thin Receiver Room Puts Pressure On One Returner Right Away

The Jets moved to shore up a receiver group that has been stretched thin, activating Tim Patrick from injured reserve and waiving Jamaal Pritchett to open a spot on the 53-man roster. Patrick has been out since the start of the season, but his return arrives at a time when the team needs help on the outside and needs it quickly.

Jaden Keller also got elevated from the practice squad for a second straight week, another sign of how much roster shuffling New York is doing to patch together depth. Pritchetts departure may not be the end of the story for him if he gets through waivers, but the immediate focus is on Patrick stepping back in and taking on a larger role right away. [Read more 🡒]

Garrett Wilson Has A Chance To Punish Cleveland's Biggest Defensive Habit

Garrett Wilson enters this matchup with Cleveland in a spot the Jets should try to exploit early and often. The Browns have built a defensive identity around challenging receivers in tight coverage, and that lines up with what Wilson has done best this season. With the cornerback picture also tilting this direction, the case for making him the focal point of the offense is pretty clear.

Wilsons track record against man coverage has been especially strong, which gives the Jets a practical way to attack one of Clevelands biggest habits. New York has spent enough time searching for rhythm in its passing game to know where the safest answers are, and this is one of those weeks when the design should be obvious. The only real question is whether the Jets lean into it early enough to matter. [Read more 🡒]
