The New York Jets are heading into 2026 with one of the more favorable projected slates in the NFL.
According to Sharp Football Analysis, the Jets own the league’s fourth-easiest schedule when it comes to Vegas-forecasted win totals. In the AFC, only the Cincinnati Bengals are projected to have an easier path.
The only teams ranked ahead of the Jets are the Detroit Lions, Cincinnati Bengals and New Orleans Saints. Behind them in the top five are the Baltimore Ravens.
The overall numbers help explain why the Jets landed where they did. Their opponents are projected to finish 139.5-149.5, a .483 winning percentage. That’s the kind of schedule profile that can give a team some breathing room, even if the slate still includes a fair number of quality opponents.
In fact, 10 of the Jets’ 17 opponents are projected to post winning records. But there’s a catch: four of those teams are only projected for 9.5 wins, and none are forecast above 10.5. On the other end, five Jets opponents carry projected win totals of 5.5 or fewer.
That lower end matters for a Jets team carrying its own modest 5.5 win total. If they handle the five games against similarly light or weaker opponents - and three of those games come at home - they won’t need much help elsewhere to clear that number.
It would also mean reaching more than double their 2025 win total.
Of course, this is all projection work, and the NFL has a way of making preseason expectations look silly by midseason. Teams that are supposed to be bad sometimes surprise, and teams that look sturdy can fall apart.
Still, using projected win totals gives a cleaner read on future schedule difficulty than leaning only on last season’s records, because it reflects the offseason changes each team made. For the Jets, that leaves them with one of the two easiest projected schedules in the AFC, which is at least a promising sign as the season approaches.
