New Jersey Man Charged in Armed Robbery of Jets Player
A man from Paterson, New Jersey has been charged in connection with a gunpoint robbery that targeted a New York Jets player in early 2025, according to officials from the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office.
Noah Shaffer, 26, is facing two counts each of first-degree robbery and second-degree conspiracy to commit robbery. Authorities say Shaffer was charged on January 15 while already in custody at Bergen County Jail on unrelated charges.
The incident took place on the morning of February 15, 2025. After a night out in New York City, the Jets player and a group returned to Morristown, New Jersey.
Around 8 a.m., as they pulled into a driveway, their vehicle was suddenly blocked by another SUV. Four masked individuals emerged, pointing firearms at the group before making off with a wallet, a watch, and cash.
The suspects then fled the scene in their SUV, which investigators later discovered had fake license plates.
Law enforcement described the investigation as “thorough” and “extensive,” involving multiple agencies working together. Electronic evidence ultimately linked Shaffer to the crime. Officials also revealed that the suspects followed the player's group for more than 30 miles before carrying out the robbery - a clear indication that the victim was deliberately targeted.
Three additional suspects remain at large, and the investigation is still ongoing. Authorities have not released the name of the player involved, and it’s currently unknown whether he remains on the Jets’ roster.
This incident stands apart from a string of home burglaries involving NFL players during the 2024 season, which led to several arrests. At this time, officials do not believe the robbery of the Jets player is connected to those earlier cases.
While the player’s identity remains under wraps, the situation underscores a concerning trend: high-profile athletes are increasingly being targeted, not just on the field, but off it as well. As the investigation continues, law enforcement is urging anyone with information about the remaining suspects to come forward.
