The New York Jets are on the hunt for a seasoned quarterback this offseason, and the list of potential candidates is intriguing. Among the names being tossed around are Kyler Murray, Tua Tagovailoa, Jacoby Brissett, and Mac Jones. But there's another intriguing possibility that's gaining traction-a quarterback with a direct link to the Jets' new offensive coordinator, Frank Reich.
The Carolina Panthers have reportedly been fielding inquiries about Andy Dalton's availability for a trade. This development was confirmed by Adam Schefter on Wednesday, and it’s no surprise considering Dalton's history with Reich. The two worked together in Carolina, making Dalton a natural fit for Reich’s offensive scheme.
Reich took the reins as Carolina's head coach in 2023, the same year the Panthers signed Dalton to a two-year deal worth up to $10 million. Reich's influence was instrumental in bringing Dalton to Carolina, highlighting the trust and synergy between them.
During his stint with the Panthers, Dalton saw action in three games, delivering two touchdowns without throwing an interception. Although Reich's tenure was cut short after just 11 games with a 1-10 record, Dalton stayed on and evolved into a reliable backup for Bryce Young, appearing in 10 games over the past two seasons under head coach Dave Canales.
Dalton's familiarity with Reich's system could make him a viable option for the Jets, offering a seamless transition and a veteran presence in the quarterback room.
