Jets Legacy Look Just Got Slammed By Another National Ranking

Despite fan enthusiasm for their nostalgic new looks, the New York Jets' latest uniforms have been snubbed in the league's style rankings.

The Jets may not be collecting many compliments these days, but their uniforms usually aren’t the problem. New York’s updated look has gone over well with fans, especially after the team rolled out its “Legacy Collection” for the 2024 regular season, a design that closely mirrors what the franchise wore from 1978 to 1997.

That’s why Sports Illustrated’s latest league-wide uniform rankings landed with a thud in New York. Mike Kadlick ranked every NFL team’s jerseys from worst to best ahead of the 2026 season, and the Jets were stuck at No. 31, with only the Los Angeles Rams placed lower.

Kadlick did give the Jets’ all-white throwback set some credit, calling it their best look. He wrote, “The Jets’ all-white throwback uniforms may be their best look, as it reminds us of a time when football was flourishing in New York, circa 1998 to 2010, when the club made the playoffs seven times in 13 seasons and consistently competed in the AFC. Outside of these, their Rivalries kits are just O.K, and their 'Legacy Collection' is littered with Gotham Green and a logo that got the franchise sued for copyright infringement.”

That assessment may sting for Jets fans, but it also highlights the one style most people seem to agree on: the throwbacks. The only difference from the old-school version is the grey face bar, which nods to the helmets worn during the team’s 1969 Super Bowl victory.

The “Rivalries” uniforms Nike introduced this past year are a different story. The gothic look has its supporters, but it clearly isn’t for everyone.

Still, the Jets have a case that their current wardrobe deserves better than this kind of treatment. If nothing else, the uniforms have been one of the few things drawing consistent praise over the last two turbulent seasons.

Jets Rookie QB Just Hit A Major Life Milestone Amid Pressure

Cade Klubnick has had a notable offseason before even settling into the Jets quarterback race. The rookie recently married his longtime girlfriend, Macey Madeline Matthews, adding a personal milestone to a stretch that already comes with plenty of attention as he tries to carve out a place on the depth chart behind Geno Smith.

For New York, the timing matters because Klubnick is still in the middle of a broader evaluation, and one analyst has pointed to him as a quarterback with real upside if his development keeps moving. The question now is less about the wedding than the workload ahead, with Klubnick needing to show enough progress to alter how the Jets view their future at the position. [Read more 🡒]

Jets Camp Battle Could Finally Fix A Longstanding Problem Next To Fitzpatrick

The Jets spent the offseason reshaping a safety group that has too often been a weak spot, trading for Minkah Fitzpatrick and then locking him in with a three-year extension. The bigger question now is who lines up next to him when camp breaks, and the answer appears to be coming down to a real competition between Malachi Moore and Dane Belton as the staff and front office sort through the second safety role.

Moore enters camp with the benefit of a rookie season that gave him extensive playing time and a chance to show he can handle a heavy workload, while Belton brings more NFL experience and the kind of rotational reliability teams usually trust in the back end. If the Jets can finally settle that spot with confidence, it would go a long way toward giving Fitzpatrick the support this defense has needed, but the final call is still being evaluated as camp unfolds.
