The New York Jets are trying to keep the good times rolling into Week 2, but their home opener against the Green Bay Packers comes with a growing injury list on both sides.
New York is chasing its first 2-0 start in 11 years, and Wednesday’s first practice report of the week offered the early read on who is trending up, who is stuck in neutral, and who is already in danger of missing Sunday afternoon at MetLife Stadium.
For the Jets, the biggest names on the report were once again wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr. and safety Minkah Fitzpatrick. Both were sidelined Wednesday and remain week-to-week after injuries suffered in last Sunday’s win over the Titans.
Edge rusher Joseph Ossai, who missed Week 1, also sat out practice with a foot injury. Head coach Aaron Glenn told the media that Ossai is " really close" to returning.
New York also had running back Kene Nwangwu out with a back injury. Defensive lineman David Onyemata did not practice because of a veteran rest day.
There was a little more movement elsewhere on the Jets’ report. Cornerback D'Angelo Ponds, who missed Week 1 and most of the offseason with a calf injury, was limited on Wednesday.
Linebacker Jamien Sherwood was also limited as he works through a knee issue. Cornerback Jarvis Brownlee Jr. was the only one of that group to fully participate despite dealing with a shoulder injury.
Green Bay’s side of the report was a mix of absences and limited work as the Packers opened the week.
Defensive tackle Warren Brinson did not practice because of a calf injury. A handful of others were limited: guard Aaron Banks and offensive lineman Zach Bako-Bewele, both with knee injuries; defensive tackle Javon Hargrave, who is dealing with a knee injury and concussion; Ty'Ron Hopper with an Achilles injury; edge rusher Barryn Sorrell with a foot injury; and Lukas Van Ness with a concussion.
Defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt was also listed on the Packers’ report with an ankle injury.

Braiden McGregors place on the Jets final roster already looked like a win for a young edge defender trying to carve out a role, and Week 1 only strengthened that case. In the victory over the Tennessee Titans, McGregor was on the field more than expected and made the most of the opportunity, giving New York a useful piece at a position group that needed help.
Pro Football Focus rewarded the performance with a 75.1 overall grade and a 77.2 run defense grade, both among the best single-game marks of his NFL career. The timing matters for the Jets, too, because the extra snaps came with Joseph Ossai still working his way back from injury, leaving McGregor with a chance to show he can be part of the solution if the rotation remains thin. Jets May Have Found The Answer To A Major O Line Doubt
Dylan Parhams first game in a Jets uniform offered an immediate answer to one of the quieter questions hanging over the offensive line after his signing. In Week 1, he earned the highest Pro Football Focus grade of any offensive lineman in the league, and the biggest reason was his work in the run game, where he stood out as New York leaned on the line to set the tone.
There was still some give-and-take in the performance, with Parham allowing four pressures, but the overall impact was hard to miss. For a player whose arrival came with some concern about whether he could stabilize the unit, the opener suggested the Jets may have found a real piece in front of their offense, even if the bigger test is still ahead.
