Jets Fans Suddenly Have A Bigger Aaron Glenn Concern

After a startling loss to the Dolphins, Aaron Glenn's future with the Jets faces increasing scrutiny.

Aaron Glenn walked into Sunday needing a win, and the Jets gave him the kind of loss that can linger. At 2-4, with the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills still coming up, New York had a straightforward job in Week 7: handle a winless AFC East opponent. Instead, the Jets got outplayed by the Miami Dolphins and put themselves in a 21-7 hole by halftime.

That early deficit told the story. Glenn’s defense, the part of the team he has called his “superpower,” never showed up when the Jets needed it most.

Miami was working without the kind of star power teams usually fear, but it hardly mattered. With Greg Dulcich, Caleb Douglas, and Malik Washington leading the Dolphins’ receiving group, the result still felt like a throwback to a bigger-name attack.

Malik Willis passed for 208 yards, and Ollie Gordon added 103 rushing yards.

For Glenn, this was supposed to be the kind of game that steadies a season and quiets the noise. Instead, the Jets looked flat from the start, as if the moment had outgrown them before the first half was over. There was a lack of energy, and just as damaging, a sense that they weren’t prepared for what was in front of them.

The loss is especially damaging because it came in a spot that should have been manageable. Nearly every sportsbook had the Jets as the favorite, and on paper they looked like the more talented roster. Miami still won because Jeff Hafley kept making the right moves at the right times.

Glenn is unlikely to be dismissed in the middle of the season. Woody Johnson has only fired a coach once during his time as owner in New York, when Robert Saleh was let go back in 2024.

Glenn also has a better relationship with Johnson than Saleh did. But losses like this make it harder to imagine the organization sticking with him.

Even if the Jets manage to finish the year with some dignity, the bigger question hangs over everything: what comes next? Would the team simply bring the whole staff back? Would Frank Reich be fired and Glenn be asked to work with a third offensive coordinator in as many years?

The longer this goes on, the clearer it becomes that Glenn may not be the coach to pull the Jets out of this stretch. There are still games left, and a chance to answer the criticism. But Sunday left a bruise that won’t go away quickly.

Mike Tomlin Just Put The Jets Biggest Late-Game Problem On Blast

The Jets loss to the Dolphins only added to a familiar frustration in a 2-5 start, but the bigger concern may be how quickly games have tilted against them before halftime even arrives. Under Robert Glenn, New York has repeatedly struggled in the final stretch of the first half, an issue that has become hard to ignore as the losses pile up and the margin for error shrinks.

Mike Tomlin brought that weakness into the national spotlight during NBCs Sunday Night Football coverage, underscoring just how glaring it has become for a team trying to stay afloat. For the Jets, it is not just about one bad night in Miami. It is about a pattern that keeps showing up in the same part of the game, and it now has outside voices calling attention to how costly it could be if it keeps happening. [Read more 🡒]

Jets Offense Has A Growing Joe Tippmann Problem Up Front

Pressure has been the theme around the Jets offense for most of the season, and it has only grown more obvious as Geno Smith keeps taking hits behind a line that has struggled to hold up in key moments. The concern is not just the overall unit, either. Joe Tippmann, who was rewarded with a significant contract extension, has become a spot worth watching up front as the protection issues keep showing up when the offense needs a clean pocket most.

Tippmanns early work suggested he could be part of the long-term answer, but his pass protection has tailed off enough to add another layer to the problem. When one interior lineman starts losing those one-on-one battles, the ripple effect is felt across the entire offense, and the Jets have been paying for it in drives that stall too quickly and plays that never get a chance to develop. Jets O Line Problems Have Put One Starter Under Serious Pressure

The Jets offensive line has been one of the seasons biggest headaches, and the issues have shown up everywhere from pass protection to the run game. With the unit struggling to keep the pocket clean and create any kind of consistent push, one starter in particular has drawn extra scrutiny as the problems continue to pile up.

Josh Myers has become the focal point of that criticism, with his play at center coming under the microscope for penalties, pressures allowed and shaky blocking in the trenches. The evaluation is blunt enough that it raises a real question about whether the Jets need to make a change there, even if the decision has not been made yet. [Read more 🡒]
