The Jets got out in front early in Week 6, but the cushion vanished fast.
New York jumped to a 3-0 lead on the Patriots before New England ripped off 17 straight first-half points and rolled to a 26-19 win in Foxborough last Sunday. That loss left the Jets at 2-4 overall and 1-2 on the road in 2026.
Now comes a divisional test in the Garden State against the Miami Dolphins, who are still searching for their first win at 0-5. Miami is one of only two winless teams, along with the Los Angeles Chargers, and the Dolphins are coming off a bye in Week 6.
The teams already have recent history. In 2025, Miami swept the Jets, including a 34-10 win at MetLife Stadium last December.

Jets vs Dolphins Week 7 staff predictions, staff standings
Brian Marron: 6-0
Dave Rivera: 6-0
Art Stapleton: 5-1
Bert Bainbridge: 5-1
Bob Jordan: 5-1
Mike Dougherty: 5-1
Chris Iseman: 4-2
Bert Bainbridge is taking the Jets 27-20, but expects Miami to hang around. He pointed to the Dolphins’ one-score losses to the Vikings and Bengals before the bye and said they can make it tight again, though New York should survive with the win at MetLife.
Art Stapleton also has the Jets winning, 17-13. He noted that the Dolphins are playing hard for North Jersey's Jeff Hafley, who is coming home as an NFL head coach for the first time, and said he has done a good job with an empty cupboard in terms of the roster. Stapleton expects New York to pressure the issue on defense and try to get Garrett Wilson going on offense.
Bob Jordan offered this: "The Dolphins aren't coming off a loss for the first time this season (they had a bye). Time for the Fish to get back to doing what they do best."
Dave Rivera picked the Jets 20-14, saying Miami has been competitive in its last two games but is still 0-5. He added that if the Jets avoid sloppiness and turnovers, they should win.
Mike Dougherty sees a 21-17 Jets victory, noting that Miami has been feisty lately, but this is the week the league's seventh-best scoring defense can have a major say in the result, unless the Dolphins suddenly find a prolific running back.
Brian Marron has New York winning 24-16.

Jets Offensive Debate Is Getting Harder To Ignore
Aaron Glenn has backed Frank Reich publicly, saying the offensive coordinator has done a good job while the Jets work through a season defined by injuries and inconsistency on that side of the ball. The bigger picture is hard to miss: New York is sitting near the bottom of the league in points per game, red-zone efficiency and third-down conversions, a reminder that the offense has not found enough rhythm to support the rest of the roster.
The frustration is starting to show up in the broader conversation around the team, too, with multiple outlets placing the Jets in the NFLs lower tier because of how often drives stall once they get close to scoring range. There is still some interest in what young players like Omar Cooper Jr. can add, but the more immediate question is whether the current offensive setup can clean up the spots that keep biting them before the season slips further away. Jets Fans Just Got A Hopeful Reminder From The Knicks
For a franchise that has spent years trying to crawl out of its own long-running slump, the Knicks rise has to feel oddly familiar around Florham Park. New York spent the better part of two decades waiting for the basketball team to matter again, and now the citys other green-and-white tenant has a fresh example of what patience, steadier leadership and a real turnaround can eventually look like.
The Jets have not won a Super Bowl or a playoff game since 2011, and the losing seasons have piled up in the years since, but this season has offered a few signs that the tide might finally be shifting. Whether the current progress turns into something lasting is still the open question, and the next stretch of games will say a lot about whether this looks like a brief uptick or the start of something closer to the Knicks late-arriving breakthrough. Aaron Glenn Had To Explain A Strange Jets Sideline Mix-Up
Aaron Glenn spent part of Monday explaining a small but notable sideline mix-up from halftime, one that caught attention because it came in the middle of a game day interview. During the break, the Jets coach made a statement suggesting New York would receive the second-half kickoff, even though that did not happen.
When asked about it the next day, Glenn moved quickly to clarify what he meant, saying he was speaking more broadly about the offense needing to sustain drives rather than the specific kickoff situation. The explanation was reported by multiple outlets, and the moment was brief, but it was the kind of detail that can linger when a team is still trying to clean up its communication as much as its play.
