The New York Jets made a pair of roster changes ahead of the 2026 NFL season, adding offensive lineman Kohl Levao to the practice squad while cutting wide receiver Cam Camper.
Levao has already spent time around the team this offseason and appeared in all three preseason games. He was also on the Jets’ practice squad a year ago.
New York first signed him before the 2024 season, but he ended up getting moved around during final roster cuts. For now, he’ll remain available as a depth option if the Jets need help up front.
His college resume came at the University of Hawaii, where he worked at both center and guard. In 2021, he allowed just one sack and earned All-Mountain West honorable mention recognition.
Camper’s path with the Jets ended after a short preseason run that included special teams work and four catches for 63 yards. He joined New York this offseason, but it wasn’t enough to secure a roster spot.
Before landing with the Jets, Camper signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free agent in 2025 and did not make that roster. He later moved to the United Football League and played for the Orlando Storm, where he recorded 25 catches for 366 yards and three touchdowns. His college stops included Sam Houston State, Trinity Valley Community College, Indiana, and Boise State.
The roster shuffle comes as the Jets try to turn the page after another missed playoff season in 2025. The pressure is on to show real progress, even if that simply means being more competitive.
There has also been some talk about head coach Glenn’s job security, but Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reported that Glenn may be safer than some think.
“You will see Glenn’s name at or near the top of just about every ‘first head coach fired’ list. There are a lot of assumptions being made about Glenn and [Woody] Johnson based on how last season went (fair, it was a disaster), how Glenn fired half his coaching staff and because Johnson recently fired Robert Saleh in-season. There has been some baseless speculation that Johnson has already started looking into potential replacements for Glenn - he hasn’t,” Rosenblatt wrote.
Whether the Jets can actually surprise people in 2026 is still an open question, but the expectation is that they should be better than they were a year ago. After lingering near the bottom for too long, the franchise is looking for forward movement.

The Jets moved on from another defensive line experiment this week, releasing former first-round pick Mazi Smith after a brief stint that did not produce much on the stat sheet or in the larger roster picture. Smith, who spent his first three NFL seasons with the Cowboys before landing with New York, had been viewed as a depth addition, but the Jets ultimately decided to cut bait.
Miami wasted little time giving him a new landing spot, adding Smith to its practice squad to help with defensive line depth. Jets Edge Plan Already Has One Early Problem Fans Feared
Joseph Ossais first preseason with the Jets ended with an unwelcome setback, and it comes at a spot where New York was counting on him right away. The edge rusher suffered a full plantar fascia tear in the preseason finale and is now being handled as week-to-week, leaving the team to sort out how to cover one of its projected starting roles as the regular season approaches.
Aaron Glenn said Ossai could wind up on short-term injured reserve, which would keep him out for at least the first four games. For a player expected to open the year in the starting lineup, the timing is especially frustrating, and it puts an early dent in a Jets edge plan that was supposed to get an immediate boost from his arrival. Jets Pass Rush Battle Is Forcing An Early Camp Rethink
Kingsley Enagbare has made a strong early impression in Jets practices, enough to move himself ahead of Will McDonald on the teams edge-rusher depth chart. With Joseph Ossai dealing with a foot injury, the pass-rush picture in camp has already started to look different than it did when the roster first took shape, and Enagbares performance has given the staff something to think about sooner than expected.
The Jets now appear to be reworking some of their defensive line responsibilities as they sort through the edge rotation and figure out who fits where. For a unit that was supposed to be defined by familiar names, the early camp shakeup has opened the door for Enagbare to emerge as a real candidate for a bigger role, even as the rest of the pass-rush order continues to settle.
