If the Jets decide to turn sellers at the 2027 NFL trade deadline, Harrison Phillips looks like one of the easiest veterans to move.
The defensive tackle is on an expiring contract, and his spot on the roster becomes even shakier by the week. New York’s defensive line and interior pass rush have already underwhelmed, and now fourth-round rookie Darrell Jackson Jr. is starting to flash as a possible answer against the run.
If that growth keeps coming, Phillips starts to look like a luxury the Jets don’t need. A few more losses could push them in that direction.
So if New York starts taking calls, these four teams make sense as possible landing spots.
Chicago sits at the top of the list. The Bears’ issues in the NFC trace back to their defensive line, and Phillips would not change the pass rush.
Still, with Gervon Dexter gone after the trade and the team expected to draft a tackle, Phillips could help stabilize things in the short term. Ryan "I traded a high second-round pick for Chase Claypool" Poles could be someone who overpays the Jets to secure one of his top targets.
Cleveland is another club that could circle back. The Browns already saw Phillips up close in the Jets’ Week 5 win, and there’s a case that they might have come out on top if he had been able to slow down Braelon Allen.
Mason Graham is amazing, but he’s hurt, and he can’t do it alone when he’s healthy. Phillips could give Graham the veteran help he needs as he works toward becoming more than just a good player.
Baltimore also fits the profile of a team that likes to keep adding experienced run defenders. Phillips could be next on the list for an Eric DeCosta move.
He wouldn’t have to start ahead of Travis Jones at nose tackle, but he could give the Ravens useful depth behind a fragile Nnamdi Madubuike and 40-year-old Calais Campbell. His versatility may be enough to justify sending a pick the Jets’ way, and Jesse Minter seems more than capable of carving out a role for him.
Pittsburgh rounds out the group. With Derrick Harmon banged up again and Cameron Heyward still quite long in the tooth, the Steelers could use another veteran presence in the middle of their defensive line.
Phillips would give them a run-stuffer who can help keep late Day 3 picks from having to shoulder too much of the rotation during a playoff push. His veteran moxie will fit in well on a Steelers team that is gearing up for one last charge before Aaron Rodgers hangs it up.

Adonai Mitchell's Return Could Change How Jets Fans See This Offense
Adonai Mitchell is set to give the Jets a welcome boost in Week 7, with Aaron Glenn saying the receiver is back in the mix for Sundays game against the Dolphins. Mitchell has been out for four games because of a finger injury, and his return adds another layer to a passing game that could use more playmakers on the field at once.
The timing is useful, too, with Miami bringing one of the leagues weakest pass defenses into the matchup. If Mitchell, Garrett Wilson and Omar Cooper Jr. can all be on the field together, the Jets have a chance to make the most of a favorable spot and show a little more of what this offense can look like when it has its full cast available. Jets Fans Need To Brace For A Very Different 2027 QB Path
The 2027 quarterback picture is already getting murkier for a Jets team that was hoping the draft class might offer a cleaner path to a franchise answer. Arch Manning entered the discussion as the marquee name, with his football family background and top-pick buzz making him the kind of prospect that can reshape an offseason conversation before he even arrives. But his recent struggles have complicated both his own outlook and Texas playoff push, and the early read around the class is that the Jets may have to think beyond the most obvious headline name.
Notre Dames CJ Carr has started to come up as a realistic alternative in that conversation, and it says plenty about how unsettled the board remains. Draft analysts are already sorting through a class where the top quarterback choices may not line up the way people expected, and for the Jets, that means the route to their next starter could look very different by the time they are actually on the clock. Aaron Glenn Knows The Jets Cant Afford More Discipline Issues
The Jets have already spent enough time trying to clean up their own mistakes, and Aaron Glenn knows the issue goes beyond the box score. New York has been one of the leagues more penalized teams this season, sitting fifth in total flags and third in penalty yards, which makes every extra lapse feel that much more costly for a team trying to build discipline early under a new head coach.
Glenn addressed the matter at a press conference and did not confirm or deny the reported fine, while also offering support for the NFLs officials. Still, the situation lingers because it adds another layer to a season in which the Jets have been fighting to keep penalties from becoming part of their identity, and the leagues review of a heated moment from Week 5 only puts more attention on that problem.
