A frightening moment at Jets-Buccaneers joint practice on Tuesday ended with a reassuring update, as New York cornerback Qwan'tez Stiggers was taken off the field by stretcher and later described by head coach Aaron Glenn as conscious and talking.
The scene unfolded when practice had to be stopped for several minutes after an injury. ESPN’s Rich Cimini said an ambulance was on site, and Jets players gathered around with concern as the player was carried away on a stretcher with an IV. Stiggers’ identity wasn’t immediately known at the time.
Glenn later confirmed that Stiggers was the player involved and explained what happened from the sideline.
"From what I know, he came to the sideline after a play and he actually (passed) out. The good thing is he was conscious, and our guys did a hell of a job, just like most medical staffs around this league do in situations like that, and they took the necessary steps just to make sure that we do everything we can to be on board when it comes to those situations. So he was able to talk, and I want to make sure that I go and see him after this just to make sure I'm good with everything, but for the most part, he was good."
The early read is that this may have been a dehydration issue rather than a football injury, though Stiggers was still taken to the hospital out of an abundance of caution. The IV offered another clue that fluids were likely part of the response, and Tuesday’s weather in Northern New Jersey didn’t help, with temperatures reaching up to 81 degrees in hot, humid conditions.
For the Jets, the encouraging part is that the situation appears to have been handled quickly and that Stiggers was okay after the scare. He’s an important piece on special teams and broke out as a gunner for New York throughout the 2025 season.

Aaron Glenn Addresses Frightening Jets Camp Medical Scare
Training camp has already had its share of heat, collisions and roster competition, but one frightening moment briefly shifted everything else out of focus. Cornerback Qwan'tez Stiggers was taken to the hospital by ambulance after collapsing on the sidelines, turning a routine practice day into a medical concern the Jets had to handle quickly and carefully.
Head coach Aaron Glenn said the teams medical staff responded immediately, and the priority now is Stiggers recovery. For a roster that is trying to build momentum in camp, incidents like this are a reminder that the biggest concern can suddenly have nothing to do with depth charts or schemes, only getting a player back on his feet. Jets Could Still Turn Two Roster Bubble Names Into Draft Value
Darren Mougey has already shown a willingness to squeeze value out of the edges of the roster, and that history is why the Jets are worth watching as cutdown day approaches. His track record includes dealing defensive tackles Jowon Briggs and Harrison Phillips, along with the trade of Derrick Nnadi, moves that suggest New York will keep listening if another team comes calling for a player it no longer views as essential.
Two names sitting near that bubble are Jamaal Pritchett and Andre Cisco, both of whom have become part of the preseason conversation for different reasons. Pritchett is trying to survive the numbers game after flashing last preseason, while Ciscos situation is shaped by a rocky 2025 season and the pectoral injury that complicated things before he re-signed, leaving the Jets with at least one more decision to make before the roster gets trimmed.
