Dante Moore keeps showing why he belongs in the 2027 NFL Draft conversation, even if Oregon’s start hasn’t been clean. The Ducks’ 84-0 blowout of Portland State in Week 3 gave Moore a chance to flash exactly what scouts want to see from a potential No. 1 pick: he went 19 of 23 for 280 yards and four touchdowns.
The pocket presence was there. The efficiency was there.
The arm talent was there.
The bigger question is what happens when the schedule stiffens. That part is still ahead for Moore, and it’s the piece he has to answer if he wants to lock in his standing as one of the class’s top quarterback prospects.
For now, the mock draft world is already mapping out where he could land, and the list keeps circling three teams: the Browns, Jets and Falcons.
Todd McShay’s first full first-round mock has Moore going second overall to Cleveland, where the Browns are coming off a win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with Deshaun Watson under center. Even with that result, Cleveland could still be hunting for a quarterback in 2027, and McShay sees Moore as the fit if the Browns are picking that high.
McShay wrote:
“Do the Browns finally-and I mean finally-get their guy? Moore is a natural pocket passer with outstanding anticipation, touch, and accuracy. He consistently throws receivers open and delivers a catchable ball that allows them to transition upfield immediately.
He still needs to show more composure when pressure arrives directly in his face, and I’d like to see him deliver in some big moments, but Moore has maturity beyond his years, and his passing foundation gives him high-level NFL starter potential.”
That maturity stands out in Cleveland’s case. The Browns have young talent, but they also need a quarterback who brings calm and steadiness with the physical tools.
Shedeur Sanders has had his moments and is likely to get more chances in 2026, but Watson’s return to the lineup only adds to the uncertainty about Cleveland’s long-term plan. If Sanders isn’t the answer, a quarterback like Moore could be exactly what they’re hoping falls to them.
The Jets are another team that keeps popping up, and FanSided’s Cody Williams has Moore going there at No. 3 overall. The idea of Moore ending up in New York has a certain symmetry to it, especially after he chose to return to Oregon. Williams wrote:
“…Dante Moore might be regretting the decision to return to Oregon. I'm not ready to start causing a freefall in the 2027 draft for him, but both the quarterback and his Ducks have not looked good to start the season. The 2025 tape still exists, though, and this looks like a pro-caliber arm with solid decision-making and real upside to be a franchise passer.”
New York is 1-1 and Geno Smith has the offense in decent shape, but Moore would bring a different level of upside. The appeal there is obvious: the Jets already have talent on offense, which could give a young quarterback a real runway.
The catch is that it would take patience. Moore wouldn’t be asked to save everything on day one.
He’d need time, a solid coaching setup and the right support around him.
NFL Mocks has Moore going first among quarterbacks in its latest full first-round mock, with the Falcons taking him at No. 3 overall. Atlanta is a little different because it already has Michael Penix Jr. in the mix.
At the time of publication, the Falcons were using Cooper Rush, while Penix is healthy and ready to take over. Whether Moore would even be in play depends on how Penix performs, whether he stays healthy and whether Atlanta believes he is the long-term answer.
If the Falcons do end up searching again, Moore would fit the same broad profile as the other two destinations: a talented passer walking into an offense with pieces already in place. He can lead receivers, place the ball where it needs to go and make use of the weapons around him.
All three projections point to the same basic truth. Moore is being tied to teams that already have something to work with on offense.
That matters for a quarterback with his skill set. Arm talent gets attention, but the landing spot can shape everything that follows.
Cleveland offers young talent. Atlanta offers weapons and an uncertain quarterback picture. New York might be the most intriguing of the bunch because the Jets could give Moore a chance to grow without piling the whole franchise on his shoulders right away.
If the coaching is right and the patience is there, that could be the best setup of the three.
