Jermaine Johnson II, the dynamic pass rusher, is set to embark on a new chapter with the Tennessee Titans after four impactful years with the New York Jets. As he prepares for the move, Johnson took a moment to express his gratitude to the fans and the city that supported him throughout his early career.
The trade to the Titans will become official with the start of the new league year in March. Until then, Johnson is savoring his remaining time with the Jets.
In a heartfelt message on X, formerly known as Twitter, Johnson shared, "New York, thank you for everything truly. The love I’ve been shown here for the past 4-5 years has been nothing short of amazing, both on and off the field.
Y’all will always hold a special place in my heart. Wish all of my former coaches and former teammates the best!!
Thank all of y’all for sharing a battlefield with me. 11 out."
Drafted in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft, Johnson quickly made his mark. By 2023, he was a full-time starter, earning a Pro Bowl selection with impressive stats: 55 tackles, 16 quarterback hits, and 7.5 sacks.
However, his journey hit a bump in 2024 when he tore his Achilles, sidelining him after just two games. Undeterred, Johnson returned in 2025, contributing 43 tackles, six quarterback hits, and three sacks. He leaves the Jets with a total of 131 tackles, 27 quarterback hits, and 13 sacks.
During his standout 2023 season, Johnson thrived under head coach Robert Saleh, who expertly utilized his talents. As Johnson's contract approaches its end, he’ll be eager to showcase his skills in Tennessee.
Despite the challenges and limited victories with the Jets, Johnson cherishes his time in New York. The franchise gave him his NFL start, and no matter what unfolds in Tennessee, the Jets will always be the team that believed in him first.
