The AFC East quarterback picture is already taking shape after two weeks, and Josh Allen is standing alone at the top.
The Buffalo Bills quarterback backed up Week 1 with another monster outing in a 41-31 win over the Detroit Lions, and he did it in every way possible. Allen finished 20 of 31 for 248 yards and three touchdowns through the air, then piled up 69 rushing yards and two more scores on the ground. That gave him nine total touchdowns in two games, which is exactly the kind of start that keeps him firmly in the MVP conversation.
Behind him, Geno Smith has given the New York Jets enough to feel good about, even if Sunday ended in frustration. In a 20-17 overtime loss to the Green Bay Packers, Smith went 27 of 41 for 247 yards and a touchdown without an interception.
The Jets had built a 17-7 lead in the fourth quarter, but they couldn’t finish the job. Still, Smith has shown through two weeks that he can run Frank Reich’s offense efficiently and help New York move the ball.
The next step is turning that production into points and wins.
Drake Maye lands third after a steadier showing in Week 2. The Patriots beat the Pittsburgh Steelers 20-3, and while Maye’s numbers weren’t eye-popping - 14 completions on 22 attempts for 208 yards with no touchdowns and one interception - he also avoided the kind of errors that can sink a game. New England’s defense did most of the work, but Maye did enough to help the Patriots get to 1-1.
Malik Willis sits fourth after a rough afternoon for the Miami Dolphins in a 35-13 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. The Dolphins fell to 0-2, and their offense had trouble creating chances for much of the game.
There was one bright spot late, when Willis found Ryan Miller for a 77-yard touchdown, but by then San Francisco had already taken control. Two weeks is a tiny sample, and these rankings can shift fast, but for now Allen, Smith, Maye and Willis are the AFC East quarterbacks stacked in that order.

Jowon Briggs made sure the Jets had to notice him in Week 2. With David Onyemata sidelined, the defensive tackle stepped into a bigger role and looked the part, earning the highest Pro Football Focus grade among New York defenders while holding up well against the run and showing enough juice as a pass rusher to stand out in a crowded rotation.
The bigger question now is what happens when Onyemata is back. Briggs did more than just fill a temporary gap, and his performance created the kind of problem every defensive front wants - too many playable linemen, not enough snaps to go around.
