For the first time in a while, the Jets can look at their offense and see more than one place defenses have to worry about.
Garrett Wilson is still the headliner, but New York has finally built enough around him to make life harder on opposing secondaries. The tight end room now features two premium draft picks from the last two years in Mason Taylor and Kenyon Sadiq.
The backfield has real depth too, with Breece Hall leading the way and Braelon Allen plus Isaiah Davis behind him. And at receiver, the group has more juice than it has in years, with Omar Cooper Jr., Tim Patrick and Adonai Mitchell all in the mix.
Wilson’s comments about Mitchell during the start of training camp were especially telling. Asked what it would be like to play with him in 2026, Wilson didn’t hold back.
"AD's (Mitchell) one of those guys, man. It's just a ticking time bomb with him...
It's been fun to watch for me and just be his teammate and come back to the huddle after each play and dap it up. I think now it just comes down to we gotta go put in a good rest of this training camp and then whenever Sunday comes, when our number's called, let's do what we've been doing.
Let's make plays, let's make plays on the outside, let's do it when the world is watching."
That’s the kind of endorsement that matters. Mitchell is already slotted in as the Jets’ WR2 heading into 2026 after a strong offseason program, and he’s coming off a 2025 season in which he finished as the team’s interim leading receiver with 24 catches for 301 yards and two touchdowns.
If Geno Smith keeps feeding the passing game with any kind of consistency, Mitchell’s numbers should have room to climb. And with more threats around him, Wilson should get his share of the payoff too.

Jets Face A Backup QB Decision Cade Klubnik Could Force
The Jets came into training camp with Geno Smith set as the starter and a backup room built around Cade Klubnik, Bailey Zappe and Brady Cook, a group that puts a lot on the rookie to show he can handle the pace and pressure of an NFL summer. General manager Darren Mougey has already signaled he likes where Klubnik is headed, and the early competition behind Smith is one of the more important camp battles on the roster because the team knows the No. 2 job cannot be treated casually.
Mougey also made clear the front office is keeping an eye on the veteran quarterback market in case the current backups do not separate themselves. If Klubnik and the others prove steady enough, the Jets can stay put and let the competition play out, but if reliability becomes an issue, the search could turn toward a more established option to shore up quarterback depth before the season gets too close.
