Garrett Wilson Just Sent The Jets A Clear Warning

Despite their on-field struggles, Garrett Wilson remains committed to the Jets, but tension is mounting over the team's performance and future roster changes.

Garrett Wilson made his position clear this week: he wants to stay with the Jets, but he’s not pretending the losing is easy to stomach.

“Yeah, I want to be here, man,” Wilson said. “I want to win games and that’s the one thing we’ve been missing on here.

I love it here. Do I love it more than I love winning?

Nah, to be completely honest, but I’m hopeful.

“I’ve never been the best optimistic guy, but I’ve found a way and dug deep, and I’ve been optimistic for three, four, five years now. And that’s why these [losses] each weekend hurt a little more.”

That was the headline coming out of the ESPN piece, and it does calm the immediate noise around his future. At the same time, it also leaves the Jets on notice if this skid keeps rolling.

There was more roster fallout bubbling up too. Nahshon Wright said he had not formally asked for a trade, but he did make it known to the team that he doesn’t have a role on this defense right now. A move feels likely over the next few weeks.

On the practice front, David Bailey was absent, leaving his status for the weekend up in the air. Braelon Allen, Breece Hall and Dylan Parham were all limited in Wednesday’s walkthrough, with Parham potentially providing help in the Jets’ short-yardage problems once he’s back. He had been one of the highest graded run blocking guards before his injury.

Aaron Glenn was also asked whether he’s stretched too thin by having to handle defensive play-calling and game management. He pushed back without pretending it’s simple.

“I wouldn’t say that. I could see how you would say that. And it’s not easy -- I’ll be upfront and tell you that -- but it’s my job to try to make sure these things happen and I’m going to put the stress on me to be able to do that.”

The larger issue hanging over Glenn is the ugly number that keeps following this team: 107-6. It’s the 2026 version of the no interceptions in 2025, and it’s becoming the kind of stat that sticks to a coach. Glenn knows the Jets have to improve in the final two minutes of halves, where they’ve been outscored by 101 points, and he said they’ve been spending more time working on those situations.

There were also injury notes on the defensive side. DT T’Vondre Sweat (knee) and ED Joseph Ossai (ankle) are both viewed as week to week, which effectively rules them out for the Las Vegas game.

And then there was Ashton Jeanty, who gave the Jets another piece of bulletin-board material. It’s the second time this season an opponent has essentially called the defense soft, so how they respond will be worth watching.

Jets Face A Real Deadline Decision With Nahshon Wright

Nahshon Wrights first season with the Jets has gone far differently than he likely envisioned when he signed his one-year deal. The cornerback has yet to take a defensive snap in 2026, a reality shaped in part by the strong play the Jets have gotten from Azareyeh Thomas and Brandon Stephens at the top of the depth chart.

Wrights lack of opportunity has now turned this into more than just a roster footnote, because the deadline is close and his situation sounds increasingly unsettled. In an interview with ESPNs Rich Cimini, Wright made clear he is frustrated and open to a change of scenery, and with the Jets not finding room for him on defense, a move before the deadline has started to look like a real possibility. Raiders Keep Rolling With Kirk Cousins As Pressure Builds

The Raiders are sticking with the veteran at quarterback for now, and that decision has a ripple effect far beyond Las Vegas. Klint Kubiak is still planning to keep Kirk Cousins in the starting role over rookie Fernando Mendoza, with the organization taking the longer view on the transition and preferring to let the young passer keep developing rather than forcing the issue early.

There also does not appear to be any real urgency inside the building to make a change before the bye, which gives the Raiders more time to sort out the rest of their operation. The focus remains on getting cleaner play elsewhere first, even as the quarterback conversation is sure to linger every week until the team finally decides the timing is right. [Read more 🡒]

Rex Ryan Just Piled More Pressure On Aaron Glenn And The Jets

Former Jets coach Rex Ryan took aim at the teams current coaching operation during an ESPN appearance on DiPietro & Rothenberg, saying the staff has not shown enough attention to detail. The criticism landed with extra weight because it was directed not just at the broader coaching room, but at Aaron Glenns leadership in a season where the Jets have already dealt with plenty of scrutiny.

Ryan also went out of his way to defend his son, Seth Ryan, the Jets passing game coordinator, amid the larger conversation about the staff. While he made it clear he thinks the players still take pride in competing, his comments added another layer to the pressure on Glenn and the coaching staff, especially with the expectation that the details have to get sharper if the team is going to turn things around.
