Garrett Wilson has found himself at the center of trade chatter as the deadline draws closer, but the Jets wideout isn’t feeding the noise.
Wilson has been mentioned in multiple rumors in recent weeks, and the speculation picked up again on Wednesday after Kay Adams posted a cryptic message on X that pointed fans toward a possible move to the San Francisco 49ers. That came on the heels of talk that the Niners could be the next team to swing big after the Seattle Seahawks acquired Quenton Nelson.
Retired quarterback Russell Wilson also jumped into the conversation and made his preference clear for where Garrett Wilson should try to land. “If I’m Garrett Wilson, I’m going to the Kansas City Chiefs,” the former Pro Bowl quarterback said.
“As you saw on Sunday Night Football, they were struggling to catch the football. You don’t see Patrick Mahomes getting frustrated too often.
They need a big receiver, and Garrett Wilson is that guy.”
Garrett Wilson’s response was far less dramatic. The New York Jets receiver addressed the rumors and made it plain that he’s not getting caught up in them.
“No,” Wilson said. “I see the stuff on social media as well.
I’m big on controlling what I can control. We saw it last year - we’ve seen it through the history of time.
I try to control what I can control - go out and run good routes, catch the ball when it’s thrown my way, have a good impact on my teammates.”
Wilson signed a $130 million deal that runs through 2030, and for now, that keeps him tied to New York. The Jets also don’t appear ready to rush into major changes, as they plan to wait until after this season before making a final decision on head coach Aaron Glenn. If that decision leads to bigger shifts, Wilson’s situation could be part of the next conversation.

Jets Face A Real Deadline Decision With Nahshon Wright
Nahshon Wrights first season with the Jets has gone far differently than he likely envisioned when he signed his one-year deal. The cornerback has yet to take a defensive snap in 2026, a reality shaped in part by the strong play the Jets have gotten from Azareyeh Thomas and Brandon Stephens at the top of the depth chart.
Wrights lack of opportunity has now turned this into more than just a roster footnote, because the deadline is close and his situation sounds increasingly unsettled. In an interview with ESPNs Rich Cimini, Wright made clear he is frustrated and open to a change of scenery, and with the Jets not finding room for him on defense, a move before the deadline has started to look like a real possibility. Raiders Keep Rolling With Kirk Cousins As Pressure Builds
The Raiders are sticking with the veteran at quarterback for now, and that decision has a ripple effect far beyond Las Vegas. Klint Kubiak is still planning to keep Kirk Cousins in the starting role over rookie Fernando Mendoza, with the organization taking the longer view on the transition and preferring to let the young passer keep developing rather than forcing the issue early.
There also does not appear to be any real urgency inside the building to make a change before the bye, which gives the Raiders more time to sort out the rest of their operation. The focus remains on getting cleaner play elsewhere first, even as the quarterback conversation is sure to linger every week until the team finally decides the timing is right. [Read more 🡒]
Rex Ryan Just Piled More Pressure On Aaron Glenn And The Jets
Former Jets coach Rex Ryan took aim at the teams current coaching operation during an ESPN appearance on DiPietro & Rothenberg, saying the staff has not shown enough attention to detail. The criticism landed with extra weight because it was directed not just at the broader coaching room, but at Aaron Glenns leadership in a season where the Jets have already dealt with plenty of scrutiny.
Ryan also went out of his way to defend his son, Seth Ryan, the Jets passing game coordinator, amid the larger conversation about the staff. While he made it clear he thinks the players still take pride in competing, his comments added another layer to the pressure on Glenn and the coaching staff, especially with the expectation that the details have to get sharper if the team is going to turn things around.
