Garrett Nussmeier's journey through the 2025 season was anything but smooth, sidelined by a significant abdominal injury during training camp. Yet, as the 2026 draft approaches, the buzz around him is undeniable, with several teams eager to explore his potential.
In a recent chat with NFL Network, Nussmeier shared his busy pre-draft schedule, highlighting workouts with the Jets and Rams, and a top-30 visit with the Colts. “I’ve got a lot of stuff coming up,” Nussmeier mentioned on The Insiders.
“The Jets are coming in the next couple of days, the Rams are visiting, and I’m heading to Indianapolis. Plus, I’ve got Zooms every day.
I’m just grateful to any organization that’s willing to give me a chance.”
The Jets' interest in quarterbacks is expected, considering the current state of their roster. They're also reportedly eyeing former Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson. With the No. 2 and No. 16 picks in the first round, along with the No. 33 and No. 44 in the second, the Jets have plenty of options to consider.
The Rams' decision to work out Nussmeier is particularly intriguing. It signals a potential plan to prepare for life after MVP Matthew Stafford. Although they traded their No. 29 pick to the Chiefs, they still hold the No. 13 pick from a previous trade with the Falcons, along with the No. 61 pick in the second round.
Meanwhile, the Colts have recently re-signed Daniel Jones to a two-year contract. With Riley Leonard and 2023 No. 4 overall pick Anthony Richardson also on the roster, the Colts' quarterback situation is fluid. Richardson, notably, has been granted permission to seek a trade, adding another layer of intrigue to their plans.
As Nussmeier navigates these opportunities, it's clear that his talents are still highly regarded, and the upcoming draft could see him landing in a pivotal role with one of these teams.
