Browns Rookie WR Took A Scary Hit At The Worst Time

In a tense showdown at MetLife Stadium, Cleveland Browns' rookie sensation KC Concepcion's promising NFL season faces uncertainty following a jarring collision with Jets safety Minkah Fitzpatrick.

The Browns’ day against the Jets took a sharp turn in the second quarter when rookie receiver KC Concepcion took a brutal shot to the head and ended up face-down on the turf at MetLife Stadium.

Concepcion, one of Cleveland’s top targets through the first four weeks, was the intended receiver on a pass from Deshaun Watson on the Browns’ second drive when Jets safety Minkah Fitzpatrick arrived with a heavy hit just as the ball got there. Officials immediately flagged the play for a hit on a defenseless receiver.

Concepcion stayed down for several minutes while medical staff checked on him. He later sat up, got to his feet and walked off under his own power, but Cleveland quickly ruled him out for the rest of the game with a head injury. ESPN confirmed the helmet-to-helmet contact and the ruling.

The penalty sequence on the drive started earlier, too. Fitzpatrick had already been flagged for a facemask after pulling Concepcion’s helmet off. The Browns ultimately used the yardage to move closer to the end zone, though the possession still ended with a field goal.

The injury hit a rookie who had been central to Cleveland’s offensive start. Selected 24th overall in the 2026 NFL Draft out of Texas A&M, Concepcion came into the game with 17 catches for 144 yards. He had started three of the first four games and was tied for the team lead in receptions entering Week 5.

Cleveland saw him as an immediate piece in a rebuilt receiving group, and his background helped explain the confidence. Concepcion arrived after a college run that included stops at NC State and Texas A&M, led the Aggies in receiving, and won the Paul Hornung Award in 2025 as the nation’s most versatile player.

For now, the Browns will keep an eye on him as he moves through the concussion protocol ahead of their next matchup. It was the first major setback of his pro career, and the play drew plenty of attention online because of how suddenly he went down. Fitzpatrick stayed in the game after both penalties.

Jets Face Another Injury Test As One Late Decision Looms

Another week, another test of depth for a Jets roster that has spent much of the early season juggling injuries. New York and Cleveland released their inactive lists for Sundays Week 5 matchup, and the Jets will be without Breece Hall, Adonai Mitchell, Dylan Parham, Kiko Mauigoa, Nahshon Wright and Nate Lynn, a collection of absences that trims options on offense, along the line and on defense as the team tries to stay afloat.

The bigger late twist centers on Will McDonald, who was limited on Friday and remains a game-time decision. With several players already unavailable and a few other statuses still being monitored closer to kickoff, the Jets are once again waiting until the last possible moment to see how much of their pass-rush plan will be intact against a Browns team dealing with its own injury issues. Former Jet Quincy Williams Just Made Week 5 Personal

Quincy Williams is already turning a routine Week 5 meeting into something with a little more edge. After leaving the Jets in free agency, the former linebacker settled in with the Browns on a new deal and has looked sharper in his new home, even if coverage remains the area that still gets exposed at times. From New Yorks side, this is one of those familiar reminders that a player who once helped anchor the middle of the defense can quickly become a problem on the other sideline.

Williams has made it clear the matchup carries extra meaning for him, too. The Jets did not bring him back, and he has embraced the chance to make them pay for it when the teams line up in Week 5. It adds a little more heat to a game that already has enough of it, and it puts one more former Jet in the spotlight with something to prove. [Read more 🡒]

Jets Win Still Left Fans Debating Geno Smith And Garrett Wilson

The Jets finally got back in the win column in Week 5, snapping a three-game losing streak and offering a reminder of how much talent still sits on the roster. Garrett Wilson was the most reliable piece on offense, finishing with seven catches for 104 yards and a touchdown, while the defense had enough impact plays to carry the day despite a rough overall showing.

Even with the victory, the conversation afterward kept circling back to Geno Smith and Wilson, a familiar split between optimism and unease. The Jets piled up 10 penalties for 102 yards, which made the margin feel a lot thinner than a win should, and Smiths uneven afternoon left the team searching for a cleaner answer at quarterback even after a productive day from its top receiver.
