NFL insider James Palmer recently shared some insights from a dinner conversation with an unnamed head coach. When the topic of Hall came up, the coach expressed skepticism about tagging him, questioning his current abilities.
Palmer recounted, “I was out to dinner with a head coach last night, and he asked me, ‘Hey, what are the Jets going to do with Breece Hall?’ I mentioned the franchise tag, and he responded, ‘Yeah, I wouldn’t do that, I don’t think he’s that good anymore.’
I pushed back, saying they need some strong players.”
Hall's performance last season included rushing for 1,065 yards and scoring four touchdowns. Despite this, there are doubts about his future productivity. Jets GM Darren Moughey has been clear about the team's stance, stating that if a long-term deal isn't reached by March 3, the franchise tag will be applied.
Moughey emphasized, “The tags are an option.” This was echoed by Mike Garafolo on X, formerly known as Twitter, who confirmed that the Jets are prepared to tag Hall if necessary.
