Breece Hall didn’t spend much time spreading the blame around after the Jets’ Week 2 loss to the Packers. He went straight to the offense.
New York let a 10-point lead slip away in the fourth quarter, and the collapse came with enough cracks to fill a game: missed stops on defense, failed third-down conversions on offense, and even a blown punt coverage that helped set up Green Bay’s game-tying field goal. But Hall made it clear where he thinks the biggest issue sat.
"Especially for the offense, it hurts. I feel like we could've helped the defense out a little more, and showed them a little more love, and put a few more points on the board for them to be a little more comfortable."
Hall pointed to a key moment late in the fourth quarter, when the Jets couldn’t convert on third down with five minutes left. That stop gave Green Bay another chance, and another first down there would have let New York drain more clock and potentially move into field-goal range.
"The defense put us in a position to win the game and we got to figure out how to do that."
Hall’s own stat line was quiet by his standards: 29 rushing yards on 16 carries, plus five catches for 63 yards. The biggest spark came on a 43-yard catch-and-run off a screen pass.
The larger problem was the way the Jets’ offense looked compared with Week 1. It was a sharp drop-off, and Frank Reich now has to sort out why it went sideways against Green Bay before it becomes a bigger issue.
