The Jets are heading into 2026 with plenty of familiar faces at the top, but almost everything around Aaron Glenn looks different. The roster is getting a makeover, and the coaching staff has been torn down and rebuilt around two new coordinators. Glenn will handle play-calling on defense, while veteran NFL coach Frank Reich has been handed the offense.
For Breece Hall, that meant doing a little homework before camp really got rolling.
After a training camp practice, Hall said he reached out to Colts star Jonathan Taylor to get a feel for what it’s like playing for Reich. Taylor’s answer painted a clear picture of the new Jets offensive coordinator and the kind of demands he brings.
"He was just telling me the way Frank (Reich) calls plays and the way he's very easy to play behind Frank. Frank's a very chill and cool dude, but he definitely wants you to, you know, execute and do what he's telling you to do.
But yeah, he just essentially said he's very easy to play for. He makes you play harder for him because of how good of a person he is, how good of a coach he is, how he's a player's coach, and how he rides for his guys."
Hall was smart to make the call. Taylor had some of the best seasons of his career under Reich, and the numbers back that up. His biggest year came in 2021, when he piled up 1,811 rushing yards, scored 18 touchdowns and earned first-team All-Pro honors.
That doesn’t mean Hall is suddenly headed for the same kind of output, but it does tell you Reich has a track record of getting quality production out of a running back.

The Jets spent the offseason trying to make life easier for Garrett Wilson, and the new mix of pass-catching talent is the clearest sign of that plan. Wide receivers Omar Cooper Jr. and Adonai Mitchell, along with tight ends Mason Taylor and Kenyon Sadiq, give the offense more options in the passing game and, in theory, more ways to make defenses pay for loading up on Wilson.
Aaron Glenn believes that added depth could change the way opponents defend the Jets, with Wilson potentially seeing more favorable looks as attention gets spread around. It also helps that Geno Smith is the best quarterback Wilson has played with since entering the league in 2022, giving the receiver a stronger setup than he has had for most of his young career. Jets End One Camp Battle Early With Sudden Roster Change
The Jets made an early roster tweak in training camp, waiving long snapper Garrison Grimes and adding defensive lineman Ben Barten. Grimes, an undrafted rookie, had only a brief chance to compete for the snapping job before the team moved on after two camp practices.
Barten arrives from Wisconsin after a stop with the Giants, giving the Jets another young body to look at as camp begins to sort itself out.
