Aaron Rodgers' NFL journey has been nothing short of captivating, and his future continues to be a hot topic in league circles. After a challenging stint with the New York Jets, where he managed just five wins over two seasons, Rodgers found a new home with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The negotiations were lengthy, but by June, the four-time MVP had inked a one-year, $13.6 million deal to extend his illustrious career.
Rodgers didn't disappoint, leading the Steelers to a 10-7 record and clinching the AFC North title. His performance was vintage Rodgers, completing 327 of 498 passes for 3,322 yards, 24 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. Yet, as the offseason looms, the question remains: Will Rodgers return for another season?
ESPN's Adam Schefter has shed some light on the situation, suggesting that Rodgers' decision might come sooner than expected, possibly by mid-March. "There was a belief he wouldn't be back, but now it seems like it's on the table," Schefter noted.
The Steelers are certainly keen to see him return, but whispers of his interest in playing for the Minnesota Vikings last year add another layer of intrigue. The Vikings were protective of JJ McCarthy, but could Rodgers now be part of their plans?
Steelers General Manager Omar Khan has expressed a clear desire to bring Rodgers back. With the team recently hiring Mike McCarthy as head coach, there's added incentive for Rodgers to extend his stay in Pittsburgh.
"I've spoken with him, and so has Mike," Khan shared. "He knows our feelings.
While he's a free agent, he understands how much we value him."
Despite a promising season, the Steelers fell short against the Houston Texans in the wild-card round of the 2025 NFL playoffs. With an offensive-minded coach at the helm, the hope is that they can break through and make a deeper playoff run. Whether Rodgers will be part of that journey remains the million-dollar question.
