Jean-Gabriel Pageau just picked up a piece of gear that doubles as a career tribute.
The Islanders center showed off a custom black golf putter featuring alternate logos from both NHL teams he has played for: New York and Ottawa. The club was posted on the Casey Golf Company Instagram page, which described it this way: "I always wanted to make it to the #NHL.
This is the closest I’ll get! Here’s a custom putter made for @pagertrain showcasing the two teams he’s been a huge part of!"
Casey Golf Company is a boutique, hand-crafted golf brand based in Scoudouc, Canada. The company works in metalworking and golf to create custom-milled metal putters.
For Pageau, the design hits the right note because his NHL path has been split between those two franchises. He spent parts of eight seasons with the Senators and appeared in 428 games before being traded to the Islanders during the 2019-20 season. Since then, he has played 443 games for New York and carved out a steady role as a dependable middle-six center, penalty killer and special-teams contributor.
Pageau put up 17 goals and 35 points in 74 games this past season.
After signing a three-year extension at the trade deadline, he is heading into his eighth season with the Islanders and is closing in on two career markers: he is 29 games away from 900 NHL appearances and 24 goals shy of 200.
There are bigger perks to life in the NHL, sure. But a one-of-a-kind putter stamped with the logos of the two teams that have shaped his career is a pretty slick one.
