Micah McFadden's journey with the New York Giants has taken an intriguing turn. After playing just 12 snaps in the 2025 season, the 2022 fifth-round pick found himself in a challenging spot during a contract year. Yet, he's back with the Giants on a one-year deal, determined to make his mark.
The limited action last season undoubtedly affected McFadden's market value in free agency. Despite that, he mentioned during a recent Zoom call that there were other opportunities on the table.
"There were some conversations going on," McFadden shared. "But after speaking with the coaching staff and others over the weekend, I knew they wanted me back, and I was thrilled to hear that."
McFadden's new contract is worth $3.75 million, with $2.9 million guaranteed. Add in $2 million in incentives, and the deal could rise to $5.75 million. This marks a fresh start with a team now led by head coach John Harbaugh and defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson.
"I'm really excited; I think Harbaugh was a phenomenal hire," McFadden said. "I spoke with the coaches and John this morning.
I'm eager to be part of what they're building here. Bringing in Tremaine Edmunds was a fantastic move, and I'm looking forward to learning and working with him as we gear up for the offseason."
As McFadden enters his age-26 season, he acknowledges the competitive nature of the NFL and the likelihood of more talent being added to the linebacker spot. "It’s going to be a competitive room," he noted.
"I expect them to bring in more guys. My focus is on competing, aiming for a starting role, and putting my best foot forward through the offseason and training camp."
Fully recovered from an early-season injury, McFadden is ready to dive into the Giants' offseason program without restrictions. "I've improved a lot since the end of the year," he said.
"Getting hurt in game one gave me plenty of time to recover. I've been working with the Giants to get back to my usual offseason routine, preparing to play football this year."
With renewed energy and a clear path ahead, McFadden is set to tackle the upcoming season with determination and optimism.
