The Giants didn’t put together a spotless afternoon at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, but they did something Dallas couldn’t match: every time the Cowboys came at them, Jaxson Dart had a reply.
New York finished off a 28-20 win with Dart steering the offense through the swings. He went 23 of 29 for 230 yards and three touchdowns, posted a 134.2 passer rating, and added 54 rushing yards while repeatedly buying time when Dallas looked ready to get off the field.
The Giants also spread the damage around. Isaiah Likely was the biggest problem for Dallas in the red zone, catching eight passes for 78 yards and two touchdowns.
Cam Skattebo handled 18 carries for 81 yards and a score, giving New York the physical edge it needed late. Malik Nabers finished with six catches for 69 yards, and Devin Singletary added four receptions for 22 yards and a touchdown.
Singletary also celebrated with Dart after the score that put the Giants in control.
There were plenty of rough edges. New York was flagged 10 times for 114 yards, while Dallas had nine penalties for 90 yards. Those mistakes kept handing the Cowboys extra chances and putting the Giants behind the sticks, but the offense kept finding enough answers to survive them.
The defense delivered its own key moments. Jevon Holland picked off Dak Prescott for the biggest takeaway of the day, while the younger defenders chipped in around him. Arvell Reese had five tackles, a tackle for loss, and a quarterback hit, and Deonte Banks broke up two passes.
The penalty count is the part New York has to clean up. Ten flags for 114 yards is the kind of sloppiness that can wreck a game against a stronger opponent. This time, though, the Giants still had too many answers for Dallas to overcome.
