Giants Linked to Explosive $80 Million Wide Receiver This Offseason

With uncertainty surrounding their receiving corps, the Giants may have a golden opportunity to upgrade with one of the NFLs most explosive deep threats.

The New York Giants are heading into a pivotal offseason, and one position that demands immediate attention is wide receiver. After a 2025 campaign that left more questions than answers, the Giants’ receiving corps is in flux - and that’s not ideal when you’re trying to groom a young quarterback like Jaxson Dart.

The team’s leading receiver last season, Wan’Dale Robinson, is set to hit free agency, and there’s no guarantee he’ll be back in blue. If Robinson walks, the Giants would be left with Malik Nabers - who’s still rehabbing from a torn ACL - and Darius Slayton as their top two options. That’s a thin group, especially for a team banking on the development of a rookie signal-caller.

Enter Alec Pierce.

With free agency looming, Pierce is emerging as one of the most intriguing wideouts on the market. According to Pro Football Focus, he’s projected to command a four-year deal worth just over $80 million - and the Giants have been pegged as a top landing spot.

There’s good reason for the buzz. Pierce has elevated his game over the past two seasons, and his production backs it up.

Since the start of 2024, he’s earned an 81.6 PFF receiving grade - a mark that ranks among the top 25 receivers in the league. But it’s not just about grades and numbers; it’s how he gets them.

Pierce has become one of the NFL’s premier deep threats. His 24 receptions on passes thrown 20-plus yards downfield over the past two years are tied for third-most in the league.

He stretches defenses vertically and forces safeties to think twice before creeping into the box. That kind of field-stretching ability is exactly what the Giants lacked last year.

It’s also exactly what Jaxson Dart thrives on.

Coming out of college, Dart was known for his aggressive vertical passing. In fact, over his final two seasons, he led the Power Four in deep passing attempts.

That mindset carried over into his rookie year, where the Giants led the NFL in deep passing rate. The problem?

They didn’t have a true vertical weapon to capitalize on those looks. Pierce could change that immediately.

The 2025 season was a breakout year for Pierce. He topped 1,000 receiving yards for the first time in his career and found the end zone six times.

Just as importantly, he continued to show why he’s one of the most explosive receivers in the game, leading the league in yards per reception for the second straight season. That kind of efficiency downfield is hard to find - and even harder to defend.

If the Giants were to land Pierce, it would reshape their receiver room in a hurry. Pairing him with Nabers would give New York a dynamic one-two punch - a blend of speed, route-running, and big-play ability. It would also allow Slayton to slide into a No. 3 role, where his skill set is a better fit and where he’s shown flashes of being a reliable contributor.

Of course, there’s still a chance the Colts lock Pierce up before he hits the open market. But if he becomes available, the Giants should be first in line. For a team trying to build around a young quarterback, adding a proven deep threat like Pierce isn’t just a luxury - it’s a necessity.
