The New York Giants have already dipped into the trade market once this summer, and head coach John Harbaugh made it clear Monday that they may not be done.
Harbaugh said the team is open to moving more players if it means bringing in draft capital, especially when there’s enough depth to make a deal work.
“If we could, we’d do as much as we possibly could,” Harbaugh said. “We’d like to take advantage of the opportunities if they come up as much as we can.”
That mindset showed up recently when the Giants sent guard Daniel Faalele to the Jacksonville Jaguars for a sixth-round pick. Harbaugh called it the kind of move that doesn’t come around often in August.
“It’s not too often you can trade a player for a sixth-round pick in the middle of training camp,” Harbaugh said. “But sometimes teams have needs.
And Daniel’s started many games in the National Football League. So they felt like that was valuable for them.
With us, Daniel was doing well for the role he was going to be playing. And yet, we have other guys that were doing well, too.
“So it was a luxury for us.”
That word - luxury - says plenty about where the Giants stand right now. For once, they appear to have enough depth in certain spots to consider turning a usable player into a future asset.
They also have seven selections in the 2027 NFL Draft, and Harbaugh made it clear he’d welcome more. The former Ravens coach is no stranger to stockpiling picks, and he’d like to see the Giants follow that model.
“Anytime you can add picks, it’s a valuable thing,” Harbaugh said. “It’s a future thing.
It doesn’t seem like much now, but it’ll matter day three of the draft. It’ll be something that we’ll be happy we’ve got.”
With rosters set to be cut from 90 to 53 players by Sunday, Aug. 30 at 6 p.m. ET, teams around the league will be hunting for help. That opens the door for more movement, and Harbaugh acknowledged the Giants have a few names they could consider.
“We do have some guys,” Harbaugh said. “We’re kind of deep in a few positions, and maybe that’ll happen. It doesn’t happen that often, but maybe it will.”
One place to look is wide receiver. The Giants have a crowded group, and if everyone stays healthy, it would be hard to fit Odell Beckham Jr. and/or Dalen Cambre onto the roster.
Darnell Mooney and Darius Slayton also overlap in role, but Mooney’s contract is far easier to move. Slayton is carrying a $12.25 million base salary, while Mooney has a guaranteed base salary of just $1.215 million.
Running back is another spot worth watching. Tyrone Tracy has had some preseason mistakes, but the Giants also have Cam Skattebo, Najee Harris, and Devin Singletary on the depth chart. The case for keeping Tracy is strong because he’s viewed as the closest thing the team has to a game-breaking back, but the numbers could make him a candidate if the right offer comes along.
Two other names mentioned are kicker Ben Sauls and cornerback Paulson Adebo. Sauls has not built enough of an NFL résumé to seem like a realistic trade chip, especially after missing more kicks this summer than Dominic Zvada.
Adebo, meanwhile, started slowly but has played better lately and now looks like a starter. The Giants would likely only consider moving him for a massive return.

Tyrone Tracy Jr.s latest preseason outing did not help settle much for the Giants. The Giants got a long look at rookie offensive tackle JC Davis in their second preseason game against the Dolphins, and he made the most of it. The sixth-round pick from the 2026 NFL Draft handled every snap at left tackle, a notable workload for a young lineman still trying to carve out a place in the pecking order. By the end of the night, Davis had done enough to stand out among New Yorks offensive players and strengthen the case that he belongs in the conversation for a real role.
